Abstract

A method for forming an aqueous dispersion is disclosed, comprising the steps of: (i) mixing an organic phase containing a lipid mixture including a cationic lipid or a cationically ionizable lipid dissolved in a water-soluble organic solvent; and (ii) mixing an aqueous phase containing an aqueous amino acid or mixtures thereof to produce the aqueous dispersion. Aqueous dispersions, nucleic acid-lipid particles prepared by the method, and methods for preparing the same using the aqueous dispersions, as well as their uses in medicine, are also disclosed.
