Abstract

Techniques and apparatus for performing internal noise source filtering for active acoustic sensing are described. The internal noise source filtering (202) attenuates interference in received ultrasound signals caused by the hearable (102) performing other operations (e.g., rendering audio content (204), performing active noise cancellation (206), or operating in a transparency mode (214)) to improve the sensitivity and accuracy of audio plethysmography. This improved performance allows audio plethysmography to be performed while the hearable (102) is performing these other operations. Furthermore, this improved performance improves the functionality of audio plethysmography for use in audio processing, which may include voice activity detection, speech recognition, and / or conversation detection.
