Sensible heat exchangers and dryers

Abstract

A system and method are disclosed for the separation of a component from a mixed gas stream by a combination of direct contact heat and mass exchange in an indirect contact heat exchanger. A contact liquid stream wets the inner surfaces of the process channels of the indirect contact heat exchanger, and the mixed gas stream flows through the process channels and contacts the contact liquid stream for heat and mass exchange. A refrigerant in the refrigerant channels and a depleted gas stream in the depleted gas stream channels of the indirect contact heat exchanger are used for heat exchange with the contact liquid.
