Idler for machinery

Abstract

An idler (140) and a method for manufacturing it are disclosed. The idler (140) may comprise a web member (148), a rim (150), and a plurality of flanges (152). The web member (148) may include a body (154). The body (154) may include a front surface (153), a rear surface (155), and an opening (156) extending through it, and the web member (148) is centered on the opening (156) and has an outer circumference (158). The rim (150) may be oriented transversely to the web member (148) and positioned on the outer circumference (158). The plurality of flanges (152) may be spaced apart in a zigzag arrangement on the rim (150), and each flange (152) may project radially outward from the rim (150) and be oriented to extend longitudinally parallel to the outer rim circumference (160).
