Abstract
An optical projection system that may be used in optical computing elements is described. The optical projection system has an optical axis and includes first, second, and third lens configurations. The first and third lens configurations are rotationally symmetric with respect to the optical axis and are arranged to capture light from an array of light sources on a light source surface and to image the light sources onto an output surface. A second lens configuration is positioned between the first and third lens configurations. The second lens configuration has a refractive power of first magnitude in a first orientation and a refractive power of second magnitude in a second orientation, where the first magnitude is greater than the second magnitude, the first orientation is orthogonal to the second orientation, and both the first and second orientations are orthogonal to the optical axis.
