Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for the simultaneous production of lithium hydroxide and sulfuric acid. The method for the simultaneous production of lithium hydroxide and sulfuric acid is provided, comprising the steps of: preparing a bipolar membrane electrodialysis apparatus comprising a first bipolar membrane, a negative ion exchange membrane, a positive ion exchange membrane, and a second bipolar membrane, wherein an acid chamber is formed between the first bipolar membrane and the negative ion exchange membrane, a salt chamber is formed between the negative ion exchange membrane and the positive ion exchange membrane, and a base chamber is formed between the positive ion exchange membrane and the second bipolar membrane; introducing an aqueous lithium sulfate solution into the salt chamber of the bipolar membrane electrodialysis apparatus, introducing an aqueous sulfuric acid solution into the acid chamber, and introducing an aqueous lithium hydroxide solution into the base chamber; and discharging the desalted solution formed in the salt chamber of the bipolar membrane electrodialysis apparatus, discharging the aqueous sulfuric acid solution formed in the acid chamber, and discharging the aqueous lithium hydroxide solution formed in the base chamber.
