Abstract

This disclosure relates to an apparatus for performing lateral flow testing on a liquid sample, comprising: a test strip comprising: a membrane on a first surface of a test position on which a first capture reagent configured to capture an analyte in the liquid sample is disposed; a sample pad disposed on a first surface of a first end of the membrane spaced apart from the test position and configured to receive the liquid sample; a conjugate pad disposed on a first surface between the sample pad and the test position and on which a catalyst-labeled reagent configured to chemically bond with the analyte is deposited; an activated layer disposed to be in contact with the first surface when activated and on which at least one component of a catalyst substrate capable of chemically reacting with the catalyst-labeled reagent when activated is deposited; and a support structure configured to fix the test strip and the activated layer such that the activated layer is separated from the membrane when the apparatus is inactive.
