Trigger method and apparatus for transitioning relay UE to RRC connected state

Abstract

A triggering method for transitioning a relay UE to an RRC connected state includes receiving a radio resource control RRC reconfiguration message transmitted from a network-side device and transmitting a first signaling message to the relay UE, the first signaling message being used to cause a relay UE in an RRC idle state to establish an RRC connection or a relay UE in an RRC inactive state to recover an RRC connection. This disclosure ensures flexible network configuration and triggers relay UEs to transition to an RRC connected state in a timely manner, thereby enabling multipath communication functionality, reducing end-to-end latency, avoiding business interruption or slowdown issues in indirect path change scenarios, improving network throughput and reliability, and enhancing the user experience.
