[0001] The present invention relates to a stoma appliance (ostomy device).
Background Art
[0002] Stoma appliances are widely known as medical devices for users having a stoma. Generally, a stoma appliance comprises an opening for receiving excrement discharged from the stoma, and an adhesive member that is adhesively attached to the user's body and holds the stoma appliance in a predetermined position. Excrement discharged from the stoma is stored in a stoma bag (excrement storage portion) defined by bonding two flexible wall sections to each other. In many cases, the pouch is provided with a discharge valve, allowing the user to discharge excrement accumulated in the stoma bag without removing and discarding the stoma bag from the stoma appliance.
[0003] In many cases, stoma appliances are integrated with a cover layer that is permanently attached during manufacturing. However, not all users desire that a stoma appliance is provided with a cover layer.

Summary of the Invention
Means for Solving the Problems
[0005] According to a first aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a stoma appliance for receiving and storing excrement discharged from a stoma, comprising: a main body portion including a stoma opening, an excrement storage portion, and a first engagement portion; and a detachable cover member including a second engagement portion, wherein the cover member is detachably engaged with the main body portion by engagement between the first engagement portion and the second engagement portion, and is configured to cover at least a part of a front surface of the main body portion.

The insertion portion has an upper connecting region and a free end extending downward from the upper connecting region, the free end being configured to be insertable into the receiving portion. [0028] Referring to Figures 1 to 3, a stoma appliance for receiving and storing waste discharged from a stoma is shown. The stoma appliance of this disclosure comprises a main body 10 and a cover member 30.
[0029] The main body 10 includes a stoma opening 12, a waste storage section 14, and a first engagement section. In one embodiment, the main body 10 has a first wall 16 and a second wall 18, the first wall 16 and the second wall 18 joined to each other at their peripheries to form the waste storage section 14. In the illustrated example, the first wall 16 is made of a film layer and the second wall 18 is made of a plastic layer. Note that an intermediate layer (intermediate wall) may be provided inside the waste storage section 14 (this intermediate layer allows gas to be guided through a different path from the path through which liquid and solid waste is guided). The waste storage section 14 is always defined by a wall (or two or more walls joined to each other) surrounding its outer periphery, forming a pouch / bag that contains waste until the stoma appliance is emptied or discarded.
