Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention broadly relates to a lighting device configured to provide device light. More specifically, the present invention relates to a lighting device having a first white light-emitting diode (LED) light source and a second white LED light source.

BACKGROUND ART

[0002] A trend in the development of LED lighting is the development of lighting devices capable of providing white light with any desired color temperature. For this purpose, the lighting device is constructed with a combination of LEDs.

[0003] White phosphor-converted (pc) LEDs are based on blue LEDs covered by an encapsulant containing green and red phosphors. White pc-LEDs are combined with direct-emitting (de) red, green and blue LEDs, for example integrated into a single LED package for LED strips. In combination with a controller configured to individually control different LEDs, the color temperature can be varied, enabling correlated color temperature (CCT) control.

[0004] US2021 / 1376200A1 discloses a flash LED package comprising a substrate and a flash LED device in a first region on the top surface of the substrate, the flash LED device including first to fourth LED light sources that emit white light, blue light, green light and red light respectively. The light sensor is provided in a second region on the top surface of the substrate and has a light receiving region for detecting correlated color temperature. A lens cover is provided on the substrate so as to cover the flash LED device and the light sensor, and the lens cover has a lens unit in a region overlapping the first to fourth LED light sources.

[0005] EP2815438A discloses a light-emitting device package comprising a substrate, a first light-emitting chip arranged on the substrate, a plurality of second light-emitting chips arranged on the outer periphery of the first light-emitting chip, and a lens formed over the first light-emitting chip and the second light-emitting chips.

[0006] US2019 / 057954A discloses a light emitter device including a submount having a top surface and a bottom surface, conductive traces on the top surface of the submount, and a light emitting diode (LED) disposed in a light emitter zone on the top surface of the submount. The LEDs are electrically connected to respective ones of the traces, and a retaining material is arranged in the form of a wall that physically separates the light emitter zones across the top surface of the submount. A encapsulant is applied to each of the light emitter zones. The LEDs are individually addressable to individually control the light output from each of the LEDs to produce a specified light output.

[0007] The lighting device of EP2398079A includes a red LED, a green LED, a blue LED, and a white LED composed of a blue light-emitting element and a yellow phosphor. The red LED, green LED, blue LED and white LED generate 26 to 38%, 35 to 50%, 0 to 2% and 12 to 33% of the light, respectively. White light is obtained by additive color mixing of the lights from the red LED, green LED, blue LED and white LED, and the white light has a correlated color temperature of 2800 K or more and less than 3500 K, a deviation of 0.02 in absolute value, and a color gamut area ratio of 120% or more and 140% or less.

[0008] KR20110102062A discloses a combination of a first LED light source unit that has at least one first white LED and emits white light of a first color temperature, and a second LED light source unit that has at least one second white LED and emits white light of a second color temperature different from the first color temperature. A variable resistor is connected to at least one of the first LED light source unit and the second LED light source unit to adjust the current supplied to at least one of the first LED light source unit and the second LED light source unit.

[0009] However, the remaining problem is the desire to improve the efficiency of such LED light sources and / or the quality of white light. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [Problems that the invention aims to solve]

[0010] Providing a lighting device that overcomes the disadvantages of conventional technologies as described above is of interest. [Means for solving the problem]

[0011] These and other objectives are achieved in the first embodiment by providing an illumination device having the features of the attached independent claims. Preferred embodiments are provided in the attached dependent claims.

[0012] Accordingly, the present invention provides a lighting device configured to supply device light. The lighting device has a support. A first white LED light source is disposed on the support and configured to supply light from the first white LED light source. A second white LED light source is disposed on the support and configured to supply light from the second white LED light source. The first white LED light source has at least one N-LED of first light-emitting diodes. Each of the N-LEDs has a die having a first surface area SA1, wherein SA1 has a largest spatial extent SE1 of 300 micrometers or more. The second white LED light source has a plurality of M-LEDs of second light-emitting diodes. Each of the M-LEDs has a die having a second surface area SA2, wherein SA2 has a largest spatial extent SE2 of 100 micrometers or less. The ratio R1 defined by SA1 / SA2 is 10 or more. The first surface area and the second surface area may also be referred to as the light output area of the die.

[0013] The plurality of M-LEDs are arranged within a group of M-LEDs and contained within region A. The plurality of N-LEDs are arranged outside region A. The plurality of M-LEDs include a plurality of red M-LEDs that supply red M-LED light, a plurality of green M-LEDs that supply green M-LED light, and a plurality of blue M-LEDs that supply blue M-LED light. The red M-LEDs supply red M-LED light and may have a peak wavelength within the wavelength range of 600 nm to 680 nm, particularly within the wavelength range of 610 nm to 640 nm. The green M-LEDs supply green M-LED light and may have a peak wavelength within the wavelength range of 500 nm to 580 nm, particularly within the wavelength range of 520 nm to 560 nm. The blue M-LEDs supply blue M-LED light and may have a peak wavelength within the wavelength range of 430 nm to 490 nm, particularly within the wavelength range of 440 nm to 470 nm.

[0014] The second LED light source includes the red M-LED light, the green M-LED light, and the blue M-LED light. The second white LED light source is white light having a second correlated color temperature CCT2 in the range of 1700K to 6500K or 2700K to 6500K, and optionally having a color rendering index CRI2 of at least 70 or at least 80.

[0015] In other words, such a lighting device is a combination of a white light-emitting package containing RGB microLEDs that function as a single white light source and a white light-emitting LED package of a standard-sized LED. This configuration offers improved color over angle (COA) compared to PC white LEDs, which is particularly important when combined with optical systems such as total internal reflection (TIR) optics. It may also enable improved control of the color over angle (CCT) of white light.

[0016] In this embodiment, the region A is 10 mm 2 The following, preferably 8mm 2 The following, more preferably 2 mm 2It has the following surface area. For example, region A has dimensions of 2 x 2 mm, such as 1 x 1 mm.

[0017] The M-LEDs within the group of M-LEDs are arranged at a pitch P1, and the first white LED light source and the second white LED light source are arranged at a pitch P2, with P2 > 2P1 or P2 > 5P1.

[0018] Such a coefficient between the pitch of the M-LEDs (note that pitch refers to the distance between adjacent LEDs) and the pitches of the first and second white LED light sources makes it possible to improve the mixing of colored light emitted by different M-LEDs. The smaller the LEDs, the smaller the gap between them.

[0019] Each of the at least one N-LED may include a white phosphor conversion LED that includes a blue LED, a green-yellow phosphor configured to at least partially convert the blue light emitted by the blue LED into green-yellow converted light, and a converter that includes an orange-red phosphor configured to at least partially convert the blue light emitted by the blue LED into orange-red converted light and / or convert the green-yellow converted light into orange-red converted light.

[0020] The effect of such a configuration is an improvement in light quality, particularly an improvement in CRI.

[0021] In other examples, each of the at least one N-LED may include at least one red N-LED configured to supply red N-LED light, at least one green N-LED configured to supply green N-LED light, and at least one further blue N-LED configured to supply blue N-LED light.

[0022] In other words, the RGB N-LED is provided on the support, which has a segmented configuration that enables optimal control of various colors, particularly in an active manner, i.e., control of color points or correlated color temperature.

[0023] In this configuration, the first LED light source has a first correlated color temperature CCT1 in the range of 1700K to 6500K, preferably 2700K to 6500K, more preferably 2700K to 4500K, and may optionally be white light having a color rendering index CRI1 of at least 70 or at least 80, and optionally CCT2 ≥ CCT1 + 500K. That is, two different white LED light sources are combined to provide the advantages of both technologies, namely, conventional LEDs and micro-LEDs.

[0024] In embodiments where the N-LED has at least one red N-LED and at least one further blue N-LED, these may be direct-emitting LEDs.

[0025] This is advantageous because these LEDs provide narrowband emission, supplying light at specific, tuned wavelengths. It may also be more efficient because the blue and red LEDs are not covered by phosphors (and therefore there is no back reflection from such phosphors).

[0026] In embodiments where the N-LED has at least one green N-LED, these green N-LEDs may include a blue LED and a converter comprising a further green-yellow phosphor configured to at least partially convert the further blue N-LED light emitted by the further blue N-LED into further green-yellow converted light. Such a configuration provides higher light quality. Phosphor-converted green light generally has a higher FWHM, which is beneficial for the yellow and green in the white light. Such a configuration may also be more efficient because green direct-emitting LEDs are less efficient than phosphor-converted green LEDs. This is because blue LEDs are very efficient, as are green phosphors.

[0027] Regarding the ratio of N-LEDs to M-LEDs, the number of M-LEDs can be denoted as X, and the number of N-LEDs as Y, where X can be more than five times Y. A very large number of LEDs can be used depending on the size of the M-LEDs. The advantage of this is, for example, higher reliability. The failure of a single M-LED has little to no effect on the overall light.

[0028] In some embodiments, the lighting device may contain only one red N-LED, only one blue N-LED, and only one green N-LED. An RGB configuration is used to generate white light, which is advantageous in that it is quite cost-effective considering the die area.

[0029] Regarding the surface area ratio, TSA1 can be defined as the total surface area of all N-LEDs, and TSA2 can be defined as the total surface area of all M-LEDs. The ratio R2 defined by TSA1 / TSA2 may be 2 or greater, or 3 or greater. Since the assembly cost of the M-LEDs is relatively high, a TSA1 area larger than the TSA2 area can reduce the total assembly cost.

[0030] The support may be a printed circuit board (PCB) having a circuit configured to provide an electrical connection between the M-LED and the driver, and to provide an electrical connection between the N-LED and the driver. The PCB may have a metal core. The metal core of the PCB may be monolithic.

[0031] The plurality of M-LEDs may be covered by an optical element configured to collimate the light from the second white LED light source. Preferably, the optical element is a fully internal reflective optical element.

[0032] In this embodiment, the support may be a printed circuit board.

[0033] In the embodiment, the at least one first light-emitting diode N-LED may include a plurality of N-LEDs, for example, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 N-LEDs.

[0034] In the embodiment, the plurality of second light-emitting diodes M-LEDs may include at least 20 M-LEDs, preferably at least 30 M-LEDs, more preferably at least 40 M-LEDs, and most preferably at least 50 M-LEDs.

[0035] In this embodiment, the green to yellow phosphor is A3B5O 12 :Includes a Ce-type phosphor, where A, in embodiments, includes one or more of Y, La, Gd, Tb, and Lu, particularly at least one or more of Y, Gd, Tb, and Lu, and B, in embodiments, includes one or more of Al, Ga, In, and Sc. In particular, A may include one or more of Y, Gd, and Lu, such as one or more of Y and Lu. In particular, B may include one or more of Al and Ga, more particularly at least Al, such as essentially Al only. Thus, a particularly suitable luminescent material is cerium comprising garnet material. Such phosphors are sometimes called "YAG" (A=Y and B=Al), "LuAG" (A=Lu and B=Al), or "(Lu,Y)AG" (A=Y and Lu, B=Al). Embodiments of garnet include, in particular, A3B5O 12comprises a garnet, A includes at least yttrium or lutetium, and B includes at least aluminum. Such a garnet may be doped with cerium (Ce), praseodymium (Pr), or a combination of cerium and praseodymium, and in particular may be doped with Ce. In particular, B may include aluminum (Al), and in addition to aluminum, B may also partially include gallium (Ga) and / or scandium (Sc) and / or indium (In), particularly up to about 20% of B, more particularly up to about 10% of B (i.e., the B ions consist essentially of 90 mol% or more of Al and 10 mol% or less of one or more of Ga, Sc and In). B may particularly include up to about 10% gallium. In another variant, B and O may be at least partially replaced by Si and N. Element A may particularly be selected from the group consisting of yttrium (Y), gadolinium (Gd), terbium (Tb), and lutetium (Lu). Furthermore, Gd and / or Tb are in particular only present in an amount of up to about 20% of A. In a specific embodiment, the garnet luminescent material is (Y 1-x Lu x )3B5O 12 :Ce, and x is 0 or more and 1 or less. The term ":Ce" indicates that part of the metal ions in the luminescent material (i.e., part of the "A" ions in the garnet) are replaced by Ce. For example, in the case of (Y 1-x Lu x )3Al5O 12 :Ce, part of Y and / or Lu is replaced by Ce. This is known to those skilled in the art. Ce generally replaces no more than 10% of A, and in general the Ce concentration is in the range of 0.1 to 4% (relative to A), particularly 0.1 to 2%. Assuming 1% Ce and 10% Y, the completely correct formula can be (Y 0.1 Lu 0.89 Ce 0.01 )3Al5O 12 . Ce in the garnet is substantially in the trivalent state, or only in the trivalent state, as is known to those skilled in the art.

[0036] In this embodiment, the orange to red phosphor is M' doped with tetravalent manganese. x M 2-2x The material comprises an AX6 type phosphor, where M' comprises an alkaline earth cation, M comprises an alkali cation, x can be selected from the range of 0 to 1, A comprises a tetravalent cation, for example, one or more of silicon and titanium, and X comprises a monovalent anion, at least fluorine. Such luminescent materials may also be indicated herein as "KSiF" or "KSF", regardless of whether M contains K or one or more other alkali cations. In this specification, tetravalent manganese-doped M' x M 2-2x AX6 is sometimes more simply referred to as a "phosphor," that is, "M' tetravalent manganese doped." x M 2-2x In this embodiment, the phrase "phosphor containing AX6" refers to M' doped with tetravalent manganese. x M 2-2x AX6 phosphor, or (tetravalent) Mn-doped M' x M 2-2x AX6 phosphor, or sometimes simply "phosphor." The associated alkaline earth cation (M') is one or more of magnesium (Mg), strontium (Sr), calcium (Ca), and barium (Ba), particularly Sr and Ba. The associated alkali cation (M) is sodium (Na), potassium (K), and rubidium (Rb). Optionally, lithium (Li) and / or cesium (Cs) may also be used. In a preferred embodiment, M contains at least potassium. In yet another embodiment, M contains at least rubidium. The phrase "M contains at least potassium" refers, for example, to 1 mole of M'. x M 2-2x Of all the M cations in AX6, some are K + This includes, optionally indicating that the remainder comprises one or more other monovalent (alkali) cations (see also below). In another preferred embodiment, M comprises at least potassium and rubidium. Optionally, M' x M2-2x The AX6 luminescent material has a hexagonal phase. In yet another embodiment, M' x M 2-2x The AX6 luminescent material has a cubic phase. In some embodiments, different combinations of alkali cations may be applied. In yet another embodiment, different combinations of alkaline earth cations may be applied. In yet another embodiment, a combination of one or more alkali cations and one or more alkaline earth cations may be applied. As described above, x can be selected from the range of 0 to 1, and in particular x ≤ 1. In certain embodiments, x = 0. The term "tetravalent manganese" refers to Mn 4+ This refers to a well-known luminescent ion. In the above formula, some of the tetravalent cation A (such as Si) is replaced with manganese. Therefore, M' doped with tetravalent manganese. x M 2-2x AX6 is M' x M 2-2x A 1-m Mn m It is sometimes denoted as X6. The molar percentage of manganese, i.e., the percentage in which manganese replaces tetravalent cation A, is generally in the range of 0.1 to 15%, particularly 1 to 12%, i.e., m is in the range of 0.001 to 0.15, particularly 0.01 to 0.12. A contains a tetravalent cation, preferably silicon. A optionally contains one or more of titanium (Ti), germanium (Ge), tin (Sn), and zinc (Zn). Preferably, at least 80%, and more preferably at least 90%, of M consists of silicon. Thus, M' x M 2-2x AX6 is M' x M 2-2x A 1-m-t-g-s-zr Mn m Ti t Ge g Sn s Zr zrIt may also be written as X6, where m and x are as described above, t, g, s, and zr are each individually preferably in the range of 0 to 0.2, particularly 0 to 0.1, and even more particularly 0 to 0.05, t+g+s+zr is less than 1, particularly 0.2 or less, preferably 0 to 0.2, particularly 0 to 0.1, and even more particularly 0 to 0.05, A is particularly Si. X is preferably fluorine (F). As described above, M relates to a monovalent cation, preferably including at least potassium and / or rubidium. Other monovalent cations that may further be included in M are lithium (Li), sodium (Na), cesium (Cs), and ammonium (NH4). + ) can be selected from the group consisting of ). In embodiments, preferably at least 80% of M (i.e., 80% of the total moles of type M), and more preferably at least 90%, such as 95%, consists of potassium and / or rubidium. In particular, in these embodiments, x is therefore zero. As described above, X relates to a monovalent anion, but includes at least fluorine. Other monovalent anions that may optionally be present can be selected from the group consisting of chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), and iodine (I). Preferably at least 80% of X, and more preferably at least 90%, such as at least 95%, consists of fluorine. Thus, in certain embodiments, M' x M 2-2x AX6 is M' x M 2-2x A(F 1-cl-b-i Cl cl Br b I i ) It may also be written as 6, where cl, b, and i are each individually preferably in the range of 0 to 0.2, particularly 0 to 0.1, and even more particularly 0 to 0.05, and cl + b + i is less than 1, particularly 0.2 or less, preferably 0 to 0.2, particularly 0 to 0.1, and even more particularly 0 to 0.05. In particular, X consists essentially of F (fluorine). In embodiments, M' x M 2-2xAX6 contains K2SiF6. Manganese replaces some of the host lattice ions and has a specific function, so it is also referred to as a "dopant" or "activator". Therefore, hexafluorosilicate contains manganese (Mn 4+ ) is doped with manganese (Mn 4+ ) is activated. Below, M' x M 2-2x AX6 is M' x M'' 2-2x It is also referred to as AX6.

[0037] In this embodiment, the orange to red phosphor is M2Si5N8:Eu 2+ , or MAlSiN3:Eu 2+ , or Ca2AlSi3O2N5:Eu 2+ The luminescent material includes a nitride or oxynitride class phosphor, where M is one or more of Ba, Sr, and Ca, and in particular embodiments, at least Sr. Therefore, in embodiments, the luminescent material may include one or more materials selected from the group consisting of (Ba,Sr,Ca)S:Eu, (Ba,Sr,Ca)AlSiN3:Eu, and (Ba,Sr,Ca)2Si5N8:Eu. In these compounds, europium (Eu) is substantially divalent or exclusively divalent, replacing one or more of the divalent cations shown. Generally, Eu does not exist in amounts greater than 10% of the cations, and the presence of Eu is particularly in the range of about 0.5 to 10%, more particularly in the range of about 0.5 to 5%, relative to the cations that Eu replaces. The term ":Eu" means that a portion of the metal ion is Eu (in these examples, Eu 2+ This indicates that it can be replaced by (Ca). For example, assuming 2% Eu in CaAlSiN3:Eu, the correct formula is (Ca 0.98 EU 0.02) may become AlSiN3. Divalent europium generally replaces divalent cations, such as the divalent alkaline earth cations mentioned above, particularly Ca, Sr, or Ba. The material (Ba,Sr,Ca)S:Eu may also be denoted as MS:Eu, where M is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of barium (Ba), strontium (Sr), and calcium (Ca), in particular, M in this compound includes calcium or strontium, or calcium and strontium, more particularly calcium. Here, Eu is introduced and replaces at least some of M (i.e., one or more of Ba, Sr, and Ca). Furthermore, the material (Ba,Sr,Ca)2Si5N8:Eu may also be denoted as M2Si5N8:Eu, where M is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of barium (Ba), strontium (Sr), and calcium (Ca), in particular, M in this compound includes Sr and / or Ba. In a further specific embodiment, M consists of Sr and / or Ba (the presence of Eu is not taken into consideration), and Ba 1.5 Sr 0.5 Si5N8:Eu (i.e., 75% Ba; 25% Sr) consists of particularly 50 to 100%, more particularly 50 to 90% Ba, and 50 to 0%, more particularly 50 to 10% Sr. Here, Eu is introduced and replaces at least a portion of M (i.e., one or more of Ba, Sr, and Ca). Similarly, the material (Ba,Sr,Ca)AlSiN3:Eu may also be denoted as MAlSiN3:Eu, where M is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of barium (Ba), strontium (Sr), and calcium (Ca), in particular, M in this compound includes calcium or strontium, or calcium and strontium, more particularly calcium. Here, Eu is introduced and replaces at least a portion of M (i.e., one or more of Ba, Sr, and Ca). As is known to those skilled in the art, Eu in the above-mentioned luminescent material is substantially in a divalent state, or exists only in a divalent state.
