[0029] I. Introduction
[0030] In 5G New Radio (NR), analog beamforming is initially introduced to mobile communications to ensure robustness of high-frequency communications. In downlink (DL) transmission, pseudo-collocation (QCL) states (also called transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states or beam states) are introduced to support beam indication for the DL control channel, i.e., the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the DL data channel, i.e., the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and channel state information reference signaling (CSI-RS). Similarly, in uplink (UL) transmission, spatial relation information (from a technical documentation standpoint, the corresponding higher-layer parameter is called spatialRelationInfo) is introduced to support beam indication for the UL control channel, i.e., the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and the sounding reference signal (SRS). Furthermore, beam indication for UL data channels, i.e., physical uplink shared channels (PUSCH), is achieved by mapping one or more SRS resources indicated by gNodeB (gNB) to the ports of the UL data channel. This means that the beam configuration for the UL data channel can be derived from spatial relational information associated with the SRS resources or ports accordingly. A unified TCI framework is then introduced, on which a single TCI state can be applied to both or either DL signaling (e.g., PDSCH, PDCCH, and / or CSI-RS) and UL signaling (e.g., PUSCH, PUCCH, and / or SRS) to determine the corresponding (one or more) transmission / reception (Tx / Rx) beams.
[0031] Subsequently, as a further evolution of the unified TCI framework, it can be extended to multi-transmission and receive point-based (MTRP-based) operation. Briefly, first and second TCI states corresponding to the first and second transmission and receive points (TRPs) can be indicated / activated by downlink control information (DCI) and medium access control (MAC) control elements (MAC-CE), and then the first and second TCI states are applied to the respective DL / UL channels / reference signals (RS) corresponding to different TRPs.
[0032] While a unified TCI indication corresponding to each TRP can minimize the probability of beam collisions resulting from individual TCI / spatial relationship updates for separate DL / UL channels / RS, beam collisions of DL channels / RS still exist in the unified TCI framework for MTRP operation in the following cases: scheduling / trigger offset < threshold for PDSCH / aperiodic CSI-RS (AP-CSI-RS) + other DL signals. In detail, the following issues need to be addressed to improve the flexibility of gNB scheduling even with analog beam switching limitations.
[0033] 1) Given that collision rules are highly relevant to user equipment (UE) behavior with respect to other DL signals, it is necessary to identify the corresponding DL signal categories, namely: Type-A: normal DL signals, e.g., periodic / semi-persistent CSI-RS (P / SP-CSI-RS), PDSCH where scheduling offset > threshold; Type-B: AP-CSI-RS, e.g., AP-CSI-RS where scheduling offset > threshold, in which case AP-CSI-RS can be configured with or without repetition. For example, if AP-CSI-RS is configured with repetition = off, it is assumed that the UE does not need to change its Rx beam while gNB-side beam sweeping is initiated.
[0034] 2) Next, we need to consider different UE behaviors to achieve this functionality, for example, that a UE can receive PDSCH / AP-CSI-RS with two default beams (i.e., indicated TCI states) and a scheduling offset < threshold. For example, if a UE can support two default beams (e.g., a UE supports the ability of two default beams for a single DCI (S-DCI) based MTRP in frequency range 2 (FR2)), then we can consider that no additional rules are needed when AP-CSI-RS with a scheduling offset < threshold collides with a PDSCH having two indicated TCI states, otherwise only one type of TCI state (i.e., the first TCI state) can be applied to AP-CSI-RS reception.
[0035] 3) Finally, the thresholds mentioned above may be specific to PDSCH / CSI-RS, or may be repetitive = on / off, which is relevant to CSI-RS (i.e., introducing a new threshold / threshold combination or reusing legacy thresholds (as in NR Rel-15 / 16)). In the case of repetitive = on thresholds, it suggests that the UE may need to activate the idle mode panel for subsequent beam training.
[0036] As a trade-off for broadband or ultra-broadband spectral resources, significant propagation losses induced by extremely high frequencies become a major challenge. To address this, large-scale multi-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques, such as antenna arrays and beamforming training techniques using up to 10²⁴ antenna elements per node, are employed to achieve beam alignment and obtain sufficiently high antenna gain. To maintain low implementation costs while benefiting from antenna arrays, analog phase shifters become very attractive for performing millimeter-wave beamforming, meaning that the number of controllable phases is finite and certain modulus constraints are imposed on these antenna elements. Given a pre-specified beam pattern, variable phase-shift-based beamforming (BF) training generally aims to identify the best pattern for subsequent data transmission in the case of 1TRP and 1 panel.
[0037] Figure 1 shows beam-based UL / DL transmission, where the solid lines represent the selected Tx / Rx beams for transmission.

[0064] II. Embodiment 1
[0065] Default TCI state determination for PDSCH and aperiodic CSI-RS where scheduling / trigger offset < threshold.
[0066] In the case of the Unified TCI extension to MTRP operation, there are two indicated TCI states, rather than a single indicated TCI state as in Single Transmission and Receive Point (STRP) operation. Figure 2 illustrates the Unified TCI extension to MTRP operation using two indicated TCI states. As shown in Figure 2, there are first and second TCI states corresponding to TRP-1 and TRP-2, respectively, and then for a given DL transmission, one or both of those first and second TCI states should be applied according to specified rules.
[0067] The following sections first clarify the rules for determining one or both of the first and second TCI states for PDSCH where the scheduling offset < threshold, or CSI-RS where the trigger offset < threshold.
[0068] For PDSCH where the scheduling offset < threshold
[0069] In the case of single DCI (S-DCI) based MTRP operation, i.e., when there are two indicated TCI states (no Control Resource Set (CORESET) and no associated coresetPoolIndex).
[0070] If the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for S-DCI based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams).
[0071] For PDSCH scheduling using DCI format 1_0, the UE should apply the first, second, or both TCI states according to the RRC parameter (e.g., applyIndicatedTCIState). As with the default mode, if not configured, the first TCI state should be applied.
[0072] For PDSCH scheduling using DCI format 1_1 / 2, the UE should apply the first, second, or both TCI states according to the TCI selection field in DCI format 1_1 / 2. If the TCI selection field does not exist in the DCI format, the UE should apply both TCI states in such cases.
[0073] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for an S-DCI-based MTRP), the UE should apply the first indicated TCI state (regardless of the PDSCH scheduled by DCI format 0_0 / 1 / 2).
[0074] In the case of multiple DCI (M-DCI) based MTRP operation, i.e., when there is a coresetPoolIndex associated with a CORESET (for example, different ControlResourceSets have two different coresetPoolIndex values).
[0075] As a general rule, for PDSCH scheduled by a CORESET with a coresetPoolIndex, the UE should apply the TCI state corresponding to the same coresetPoolIndex. However, there may be some specific cases that should be clarified as follows:
[0076] If the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for M-DCI-based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams).
[0077] Regardless of whether the PDSCH is scheduled by DCI format 0_0 / 1 / 2, for PDSCHs scheduled by PDCCHs in a CORESET that have a coresetPoolIndex, the UE should apply the TCI state corresponding to the same coresetPoolIndex.
[0078] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for an S-DCI-based MTRP), the UE should apply the first indicated TCI state (regardless of the PDSCH scheduled by DCI format 0_0 / 1 / 2).
[0079] The first TCI state shown corresponds to the TCI state specific to the coresetPoolIndex value.
[0080] Furthermore, in such cases, at least one of the following additional requirements must be met:
[0081] A PDSCH with a scheduled offset < threshold can be scheduled by a PDCCH in a CORESET that has a specific coresetPoolIndex (e.g., coresetPoolIndex=0).
[0082] A PDSCH with a scheduled offset < threshold is excluded if it is scheduled by a PDCCH in a CORESET that has a different specific coresetPoolIndex (e.g., coresetPoolIndex=1).
[0083] In addition to the case of PDSCH, there must also be a separate rule for AP-CSI-RS where trigger offset < threshold. It should be noted that the thresholds for AP-CSI-RS and PDSCH may be the same or different, and some further details will be discussed in Embodiment #4.
[0084] Furthermore, if the offset between the reception of the scheduled / activated DCI format 1_0 / 1_1 / 1_2 and the scheduled or activated PDSCH reception is less than the threshold in frequency range 2, the UE shall apply the indicated TCI state specific to coresetPoolIndex value 0 to the scheduled or activated PDSCH reception.
[0085] In such cases, there is a coresetPoolIndex associated with the CORESET.
[0086] Furthermore, the UE does not expect the offset between the reception of the scheduled / activated DCI format 1_0 / 1_1 / 1_2 associated with coresetPoolIndex value 1 and the scheduled or activated PDSCH reception to be below the threshold in frequency range 2.
[0087] In such cases, there is a coresetPoolIndex associated with the CORESET.
[0088] In the case of AP-CSI-RS where trigger offset < threshold.
[0089] In the case of S-DCI-based MTRP operation, i.e., when there are two indicated TCI states (no coresetPoolIndex associated with CORESET).
[0090] If the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for S-DCI based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams).
[0091] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations provided to the AP-CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0092] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report the capability of the two default beams for, for example, an S-DCI-based MTRP), the UE shall apply the first TCI condition to AP-CSI-RS.
[0093] In the case of M-DCI-based MTRP operation, that is, when there is a coresetPoolIndex associated with a control resource set (CORESET) (for example, when there are two different values of coresetPoolIndex in different CORESETs).
[0094] If the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for M-DCI-based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams).
[0095] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to AP-CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations provided to the aperiodic CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0096] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for an S-DCI-based MTRP), the UE should apply the indicated joint / DL TCI state corresponding to a specific coresetPoolIndex (e.g., coresetPoolIndex=0) to the aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0097] If the QCL-Type D properties differ within a slot of component carriers (CCs) in the band, the above (one or more) TCI states of the CC with the lowest ID take precedence; that is, the default beam of the CC with the lowest ID is applied to all CCs in the band.
[0098] Figure 3 illustrates determining one or both of the first and second TCI states for PDSCH / CSI-RS where the offset < threshold (i.e., default beam rule). For example, we have the following example for S-DCI-based MTRP as shown in Figure 3, where we consider the following two typical cases: Case #1, the UE supports the capability of two default beams for S-DCI-based MTRP at FR2, or the PDSCH / AP-CSI-RS transmission is at FR1; Case #2, the UE does not support the capability of two default beams for S-DCI-based MTRP at FR2, i.e., only one default beam. Based on the rule described above, we have the following analysis.
[0099] In Case #1, for a PDSCH scheduled by DCI format 1_1, where the "TCI selection field" of DCI format 1_1 indicates both TCI states, the UE should use both TCI states for subsequent PDSCH transmissions where the scheduling offset < threshold; then, in the case of AP-CSI-RS, where the Radio Resource Control (RRC) parameter configures following either the first or second TCI state, and AP-CSI-RS is configured to "follow the second TCI state", the UE should apply the second TCI state to AP-CSI-RS.
[0100] Next, in case #2, for a PDSCH scheduled by DCI 1_1, the UE should use the first TCI state for PDSCH reception, regardless of the value indicated in the "TCI selection field"; then, in the case of AP-CSI-RS, similarly, the UE should directly use the first TCI state for AP-CSI-RS.
[0101] III. Embodiment 2
[0102] Beam collision in S-DCI-based MTRP.
[0103] In this embodiment, beam collision rules for PDSCH / AP-CSI-RS+ other DL signals with a scheduling / trigger offset below a threshold in S-DCI-based MTRP operation are detailed (it should be noted that “S-DCI-based MTRP operation” is equivalent to the conditions “there are two indicated TCI states” and / or “there is no coresetPoolIndex associated with CORESET”).
[0104] For PDSCHs with scheduling offsets below a threshold, we consider the case of "PDSCH + CORESET / PDCCH with scheduling offsets below a threshold," that is, the case where the other DL signal is a CORESET / PDCCH.
[0105] If PDSCH and PDCCH / CORESET overlap in at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), reception of PDCCH takes precedence (over PDSCH).
[0106] Furthermore, in such cases, the (one or more) TCI states corresponding to PDCCH / CORESET are "not within the range" of a particular TCI state or "different from" it, or the "QCL-Type D" (i.e., the QCL-Type D assumption for DL reception) of a particular TCI state (e.g., the first or both TCI states corresponding to PDSCH) is different from it.
[0107] Furthermore, if the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for S-DCI-based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams), then a particular TCI state includes both the first and second TCI states.
[0108] Furthermore, "different" includes the fact that the combination of TCI state / "QCL-type D" is different (if greater than 1), or that for each TCI state / "QCL-type D", there is no identical TCI state / "QCL-type D".
[0109] Furthermore, in such cases, the UE will not report its capability for two default beams (for example, for S-DCI-based MTRP) (i.e., the UE is unable to support two default beams).
[0110] Figure 4 illustrates a beam collision between PDSCH and CORESET / PDCCH with a scheduling offset < threshold in an S-DCI-based MTRP. For example, consider the following example shown in Figure 4, where there are two simultaneous transmissions between CORESET / PDCCH and a PDSCH with a scheduling offset < threshold in slot n+1, based on the rules described above.
[0111] If the UE can report the capability of the two default beams, it means that a certain TCI state (one or more) includes both the first and second TCI states, in which case the TCI state corresponding to PDCCH / CORESET is not outside the range of that particular TCI state. Therefore, PDSCH can be received well, and there is no need to specify any UE behavior that prioritizes CORESET / PDCCH in the transmission of slot -n+2.
[0112] However, if the UE cannot report the capability of the two default beams, it means that a certain TCI state (one or more) corresponds to the first TCI state, in which case the TCI state of CORESET / PDCCH (i.e., the second TCI state) is different from the certain TCI state. Therefore, in such cases, PDCCH reception should take precedence over PDSCH.
[0113] Next, we detail the beam collision rules for AP-CSI-RS+ other DL signals with scheduling / trigger offsets below a threshold in S-DCI-based MTRP operation (it should be noted that “S-DCI-based MTRP operation” is equivalent to the conditions “there are two indicated TCI states” and / or “there is no coresetPoolIndex associated with CORESET”).
[0114] When the UE has two indicated TCI states, the offset between the reception of the scheduling / activation DCI format 1_0 / 1_1 / 1_2 and the reception of the scheduling or activation PDSCH is less than a threshold, and the PDSCH and PDCCH overlap in at least one symbol.
[0115] Furthermore, if the UE reports its capability for two default beams (i.e., two default beams for S-DCI-based MTRP) and the (one or more) "QCL-Type D" corresponding to the PDCCH DMRS is different from either of the two indicated joint / DL TCI states, the UE is expected to prioritize receiving the PDCCH.
[0116] Furthermore, if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams (i.e., the two default beams for S-DCI-based MTRP), and the (one or more) "QCL-Type D" corresponding to the PDSCH DMRS does not belong to the PDCCH DMRS, the UE is expected to prioritize receiving the PDCCH.
[0117] When the UE has two indicated TCI states, the offset between the reception of the scheduling / activation DCI format 1_0 / 1_1 / 1_2 and the reception of the scheduling or activation PDSCH is less than a threshold, and the PDSCH and PDCCH overlap in at least one symbol.
[0118] Furthermore, if the UE reports its capability for two default beams (i.e., two default beams for S-DCI-based MTRP) and the (one or more) "QCL-Type D" corresponding to the PDCCH DMRS are not from the two indicated joint / DL TCI states, the UE is expected to prioritize receiving the PDCCH.
[0119] Furthermore, if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams (i.e., the two default beams for S-DCI-based MTRP), and the "QCL-Type D" corresponding to PDSCH DMRS is different from any of those for PDCCH DMRS, the UE is expected to prioritize receiving PDCCH.
[0120] For AP-CSI-RS with a trigger offset below a threshold, consider the case of "AP-CSI-RS trigger offset + other DL signals," where the DL signals can be divided into three categories: Type-1 DL signals that apply both the first and second TCI states (e.g., a PDSCH scheduled by DCI with both TCI states applied); Type-2 DL signals that apply either the first or second TCI state (e.g., a P / SP-CSI-RS with an RRC configured "according to the first DL signal"); and Type-3 DL signals that do not follow the indicated TCI states (i.e., either the first or second TCI state) (e.g., configured individually with TCI states that are neither the first nor the second TCI state) or to which (one or more) indicated TCI states are applied.
[0121] Furthermore, if the AP-CSI-RS and the type-1 DL signal applying both the first and second TCI states overlap for at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol).
[0122] If the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for S-DCI-based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams), then the following UE behavior (i.e., no collision) as described in Embodiment #1 is used.
[0123] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations provided to the AP-CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0124] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report the capability of the two default beams for, for example, an S-DCI-based MTRP), at least one of the following should apply:
[0125] Option-1: The UE applies the first TCI state to AP-CSI-RS (i.e., the same UE behavior as described in Embodiment #1 (i.e., no collision)).
[0126] Option-2: The UE should apply a first or second TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configuration provided to the AP-CSI-RS resource or the aperiodic CSI-RS resource set. The UE is expected to use both the first and second TCI states to buffer the DL signal.
[0127] Furthermore, the Type-1 DL signal includes a PDSCH with scheduling offset ≥ threshold and both first and second TCI states applied, or a PDCCH in a CORESET (for example, following both first and second TCI states).
[0128] Furthermore, if AP-CSI-RS and a type-2 DL signal applying either the first or second TCI state overlap for at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), then at least one of the following should be considered:
[0129] Option-1: The UE should apply the TCI status of the type-2 DL signal to AP-CSI-RS.
[0130] Option-2: The TCI status to apply to AP-CSI-RS is determined according to whether the UE is in FR1 or whether the UE reports its capability for the two default beams.
[0131] Furthermore, if the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams (i.e., the UE can support two default beams), the following UE behavior (i.e., no collision) as described in Embodiment #1 is used.
[0132] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations (e.g., RRC) provided to the AP-CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0133] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for S-DCI-based MTRP), the UE should apply the TCI status of the type-2 DL signal to AP-CSI-RS.
[0134] Furthermore, the type-2 DL signal includes at least a PDSCH, periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), aperiodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), trigger offset ≥ threshold, or a PDCCH in a CORESET (e.g., according to the indicated TCI state) where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold.
[0135] Furthermore, there may be two different thresholds for each of the different types of CSI-RS. For example, the first type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for tracking, CSI-RS for CSI, and / or CSI-RS for beam management (and is repetitively off); the second type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for beam management that is repetitively on.
[0136] Furthermore, the threshold for the first type is reported by the UE, in which case the threshold for the second type is fixed, for example, 48 symbols.
[0137] Furthermore, the type-2 DL signal includes a PDSCH where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold, excluding PDSCHs having at least two indicated TCI states.
[0138] Furthermore, if the AP-CSI-RS and a type-3 DL signal that does not conform to the indicated TCI state (i.e., either the first or second TCI state) overlap for at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), the UE should apply the TCI state of the type-3 DL signal to the AP-CSI-RS.
[0139] Furthermore, if the type-3 DL signal has one or more TCI state / QCL assumptions, a collision between the AP-CSI-RS and the type-3 DL signal is ruled out (i.e., the UE does not expect the AP-CSI-RS to overlap with the type-3 DL signal in at least one time unit).
[0140] Furthermore, the Type-3 DL signal includes at least a periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), a semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), a non-periodic CSI-RS where trigger offset ≥ threshold, or a PDCCH within a CORESET (e.g., not following the indicated TCI state).
[0141] Furthermore, when the UE has two indicated TCI states, if the offset between the last symbol of the PDCCH carrying the trigger DCI and the first symbol of the aperiodic CSI-RS resource in the aperiodic CSI-RS resource set is less than a threshold:
[0142] Furthermore, if there is a DL signal with the same symbol as the aperiodic CSI-RS in frequency range 2.
[0143] Furthermore, if the UE reports the capability of the two default beams in frequency range 2, and the DL signal is applied by either or both of the first and second indicated joint / DL TCI states, the UE shall apply the first or second indicated joint / DL TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the higher-layer configuration provided to the aperiodic CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0144] Furthermore, if not, the UE shall apply the QCL assumption of other DL signals to the aperiodic CSI-RS.
[0145] Furthermore, if there is no DL signal with the same symbol as the aperiodic CSI-RS in frequency range 2.
[0146] Furthermore, if the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability of two default beams in frequency range 2, the UE shall apply the first or second indicated joint / DL TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the higher-layer configuration provided to the aperiodic CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0147] Otherwise, the UE shall apply the first indicated joint / DL TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS.
[0148] Furthermore, DL signals refer to PDSCH, periodic CSI-RS, semi-persistent CSI-RS, and / or aperiodic CSI-RS scheduled with an offset exceeding or equal to the threshold.
[0149] Figure 5 illustrates a beam collision of AP-CSI-RS + other DL signals where the scheduling offset < threshold in S-DCI-based MTRP operation. For example, have the following example shown in Figure 5, where there is simultaneous transmission between CSI-RS and other DL signals where the scheduling offset < threshold, and the other DL signals include PDSCH (i.e., type-1 DL signal) where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold and both the first and second TCI states are in slot-n, P-CSI-RS#1 (i.e., type-2 DL signal) following the first TCI state (configured by the RRC parameter) in slot-n+1, and P-CSI-RS#2 (i.e., type-3 DL signal) which does not follow the indicated TCI state. Based on the rules described above, we have the following:
[0150] When transmitted simultaneously with a PDSCH in slot-n where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold, if the UE reports the capability of the two default beams, the second TCI state (configured by the RRC) applies to AP-CSI-RS; otherwise, there may be two options: Option-1: The first TCI state applies to AP-CSI-RS, or Option-2: The second TCI state (configured by the RRC) applies to AP-CSI-RS.
[0151] When P-CSI-RS#1 is transmitted simultaneously in slot -n+1 following the first TCI state, if the UE reports the capability of the two default beams, the second TCI state (configured by the RRC) is applied; otherwise, the first TCI state is applied to AP-CSI-RS.
[0152] When transmitted simultaneously with P-CSI-RS#2, which does not conform to the indicated TCI state, the TCI state of P-CSI-RS#2 is applied to AP-CSI-RS.
[0153] IV. Embodiment 3
[0154] Beam collision in M-DCI-based MTRP.
[0155] In this embodiment, beam collision rules for PDSCH / AP-CSI-RS + other DL signals with scheduling / trigger offsets below a threshold are detailed in M-DCI-based MTRP operation (it should be noted that “M-DCI-based MTRP operation” is equivalent to the condition “there is a coresetPoolIndex associated with a control resource set (CORESET) (e.g., there are two different values of coresetPoolIndex for different CORESETs)”).
[0156] For PDSCHs with a scheduling offset below a threshold, we consider the case of "PDSCH with a scheduling offset + CORESET / PDCCH," that is, the case where the other DL signal is a CORESET / PDCCH.
[0157] If PDSCH and PDCCH / CORESET overlap for at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), and the TCI state of PDSCH corresponding to coresetPoolIndex or the "QCL-Type D" TCI state (i.e., the QCL-Type D assumption for DL reception) is different from that of PDCCH / CORESET, then reception of PDCCH takes precedence (over PDSCH).
[0158] Furthermore, PDCCH / CORESET is associated with the same coresetPoolIndex or the same TCI state as PDSCH.
[0159] Furthermore, PDCCH / CORESET is associated with a different coresetPoolIndex or a different TCI state than PDSCH.
[0160] Furthermore, UE is located in FR2.
[0161] Furthermore, UE does not report the capabilities of the two default beams, for example, for M-DCI-based MTRP.
[0162] For AP-CSI-RS with a trigger offset below a threshold, consider the case of "AP-CSI-RS trigger offset + other DL signals," where the DL signals can be divided into three categories: Type-1 DL signals associated with the same TCI state as AP-CSI-RS (i.e., the same first TCI state or the same second TCI state) or the same coresetPoolIndex; Type-2 DL signals associated with a different type of TCI state or a different coresetPoolIndex than AP-CSI-RS; and Type-3 DL signals that do not follow (one or more) indicated TCI states (i.e., either the first or second TCI state) (e.g., composed of TCI states that are not the first or second TCI state, but individually configured).
[0163] Furthermore, if AP-CSI-RS and a type-1 DL signal associated with the same TCI state as AP-CSI-RS (i.e., the same first TCI state or the same second TCI state) or the same coresetPoolIndex as AP-CSI-RS overlap in at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol),
[0164] If the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams in frequency range 2 (e.g., for M-DCI-based MTRP) (i.e., the UE can support two default beams), then the following UE behavior (i.e., no collision) as described in Embodiment #1 is used:
[0165] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to AP-CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations provided to the aperiodic CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0166] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for an M-DCI-based MTRP), the UE shall apply the TCI status of the type-1 DL signal to the AP-CSI-RS or reuse the same UE behavior as described in Embodiment #1.
[0167] Furthermore, the Type-1 DL signal includes at least a PDSCH, periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), aperiodic CSI-RS (T-CSI-RS), trigger offset ≥ threshold, or a PDCCH in a CORESET (e.g., according to the indicated TCI state), where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold.
[0168] Furthermore, there may be two different thresholds for each of the different types of CSI-RS. For example, the first type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for tracking, CSI-RS for CSI, and / or CSI-RS for beam management (and is repetitively off); the second type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for beam management that is repetitively on.
[0169] Furthermore, the threshold for the first type is reported by the UE, in which case the threshold for the second type is fixed, for example, 48 symbols.
[0170] Furthermore, if AP-CSI-RS and a type-2 DL signal associated with a different type of TCI state or a different coresetPoolIndex than AP-CSI-RS overlap in at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), then at least one of the following should be considered:
[0171] Option-1: The UE should apply the TCI status of the type-2 DL signal to AP-CSI-RS.
[0172] Option-2: The TCI status to apply to AP-CSI-RS is determined according to whether the UE is in FR1 or whether the UE reports its capability for the two default beams.
[0173] Furthermore, if the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams (i.e., the UE can support two default beams), the following UE behavior (i.e., no collision) as described in Embodiment #1 is used.
[0174] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations provided to the AP-CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0175] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for M-DCI-based MTRP), the UE should apply the TCI status of the type-2 DL signal to AP-CSI-RS.
[0176] Furthermore, the type-2 DL signal includes at least a PDSCH, periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), aperiodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), trigger offset ≥ threshold, or a PDCCH in a CORESET (e.g., according to the indicated TCI state) where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold.
[0177] Furthermore, there may be two different thresholds for each of the different types of CSI-RS. For example, the first type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for tracking, CSI-RS for CSI, and / or CSI-RS for beam management (and is repetitively off); the second type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for beam management that is repetitively on.
[0178] Furthermore, the threshold for the first type is reported by the UE, in which case the threshold for the second type is fixed, for example, 48 symbols.
[0179] Furthermore, the Type-2 DL signal includes at least a PDSCH where the scheduling offset ≥ threshold, excluding the PDSCH associated with the same TCI state as AP-CSI-RS.
[0180] Furthermore, if the AP-CSI-RS and a type-3 DL signal that does not conform to the indicated TCI state (i.e., either the first or second TCI state) overlap for at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), the UE should apply the TCI state of the type-3 DL signal to the AP-CSI-RS.
[0181] Furthermore, the Type-3 DL signal includes at least a periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), a semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), a non-periodic CSI-RS where trigger offset ≥ threshold, or a PDCCH within a CORESET (e.g., not following the indicated TCI state).
[0182] In short, Type-1 DL signals and Type-2 DL signals may be merged as a Type-A DL signal (i.e., having a first or second TCI state), in which case the following rules apply:
[0183] Furthermore, if AP-CSI-RS and a type-A DL signal associated with a first or second TCI state or a different coresetPoolIndex than AP-CSI-RS overlap for at least one time unit (e.g., symbol / OFDM symbol), then at least one of the following should be considered:
[0184] Option-1: The UE should apply the TCI state of the Type-A DL signal to AP-CSI-RS.
[0185] Option-2: The TCI status to apply to AP-CSI-RS is determined according to whether the UE is in FR1 or whether the UE reports its capability for the two default beams.
[0186] Furthermore, if the UE is in frequency range 1, or if the UE reports its capability for two default beams (i.e., the UE can support two default beams), the following UE behavior (i.e., no collision) as described in Embodiment #1 is used.
[0187] The UE shall apply the first or second TCI state to the aperiodic CSI-RS according to the (one or more) higher-layer configurations provided to the AP-CSI-RS resource or aperiodic CSI-RS resource set.
[0188] Otherwise (i.e., if the UE does not report its capability for the two default beams, for example, for M-DCI-based MTRP), the UE should apply the TCI status of the type-A DL signal to AP-CSI-RS.
[0189] Furthermore, the type-A DL signal includes at least a PDSCH with scheduling offset ≥ threshold, a periodic CSI-RS (P-CSI-RS), a semi-persistent CSI-RS (SP-CSI-RS), and a periodic CSI-RS with trigger offset ≥ threshold.
[0190] Furthermore, there may be two different thresholds for each of the different types of CSI-RS. For example, the first type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for tracking, CSI-RS for CSI, and / or CSI-RS for beam management (and is repetitively off); the second type of threshold is used for CSI-RS for beam management that is repetitively on.
[0191] Furthermore, the threshold for the first type is reported by the UE, in which case the threshold for the second type is fixed, for example, 48 symbols.
[0192] Figure 6 illustrates a beam collision of AP-CSI-RS + other DL signals where the scheduling offset < threshold in M-DCI-based MTRP operation. For example, have the following example shown in Figure 6, where there is simultaneous transmission between CSI-RS and other DL signals where the scheduling offset < threshold, and the other DL signals include P-CSI-RS#1 (i.e., type-A DL signal or type-2 DL signal) that follows a first TCI state (configured by the RRC parameter) in slot-n and P-CSI-RS#2 (i.e., type-3 DL signal) that does not follow the indicated TCI state. Based on the rules described above, we have the following:
[0193] When P-CSI-RS#1 is transmitted simultaneously in slot -n+1 following the first TCI state, if the UE reports the capability of the two default beams, the second TCI state (configured by the RRC) is applied; otherwise, the first TCI state is applied to AP-CSI-RS.
[0194] When transmitted simultaneously with P-CSI-RS#2, which does not conform to the indicated TCI state, the TCI state of P-CSI-RS#2 is applied to AP-CSI-RS.
[0195] V. Embodiment 4
[0196] UE capability report for PDSCH / CSI-RS related thresholds.
[0197] This embodiment focuses on UE capability reporting for PDSCH / CSI-RS related thresholds. Therefore, there are two candidates:
[0198] Option-1: UE can specify a common threshold for both PDSCH and CSI-RS.
[0199] For example, candidate values for the common threshold are {14, 28, 48}.
[0200] Option-2: UE can specify separate thresholds for PDSCH and CSI-RS.
[0201] Furthermore, the UE can specify another threshold for CSI-RS (for example, for CSI-RS for beam management where repetition = on).
[0202] Another candidate threshold value could be {224,336}, which is used to enable idle UE panels for further UE-side Rx beam sweeping.
[0203] Furthermore, another threshold may be reported by the UE, in which case the CSI-RS threshold for beam management (as a Type-II CSI-RS) is fixed, e.g., 48 symbols, where repetition = on.
[0204] Furthermore, regarding the reporting format in the corresponding UE capability signaling, in the case of option-1, the UE may indicate a combination of {common threshold, another threshold for CSI-RS}, for example, {14,224}.
[0205] This patent document proposes a comprehensive method for handling beam collisions for downlink channels and RS in a unified TCI framework for MTRP operation, in order to facilitate the flexibility of NW scheduling, even considering beam switching latency (i.e., corresponding to thresholds). First, it provides specified default beam / TCI state determination rules for PDSCH where scheduling offset < threshold, or AP-CSI-RS where trigger offset < threshold; then, for S-DCI and M-DCI-based MTRP operation, detailed rules are separately provided for when the above two DL channels / signals are transmitted simultaneously with other DL signals in the same time unit; and finally, the UE capability of the respective PDSCH and CSI-RS thresholds is analyzed in detail.
[0206] Figure 7 is an exemplary flowchart for determining the TCI state. Operation 702 includes the wireless device receiving a first indicated transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state specific to a first control resource set pool index and a second indicated TCI state specific to a second control resource set pool index. Operation 704 includes the wireless device receiving downlink control information (DCI) for scheduling a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), wherein the DCI is associated with a control resource set pool index among the first and second control resource set pool indices. Operation 706 includes the wireless device determining the TCI state for the PDSCH based on the DCI. In some embodiments, the method can be carried out according to Embodiment 1. In some embodiments, further steps of the method can be performed based on better system performance than legacy protocols.
[0207] In some embodiments, the scheduling offset between the PDSCH and the DCI is less than a threshold. In some embodiments, if the wireless device is in frequency range 1 or reports its ability to support one or more default beams in frequency range 2, determining the TCI state involves applying a specified TCI state specific to the control resource set pool index associated with the DCI.
[0208] In some embodiments, if the wireless device is in frequency range 2 or does not report its ability to support more than one default beam, at least one of the following applies: determining the TCI state includes applying a first indicated TCI state if the control resource set pool index associated with the DCI has a specific value (the specific value is "0"), or if the DCI is associated with a first control resource set pool index; or if the first control resource set pool index and the control resource set pool index associated with the DCI have different values, the PDSCH is not schedulable.
[0209] In some embodiments, if the scheduling offset between the PDSCH and the DCI exceeds or is equal to a threshold, at least one of the following applies: the DCI is associated with a second control resource set pool index (e.g., the second control resource set pool index has a value of "1"); the DCI is not associated with a first control resource set pool index (e.g., the first control resource set pool index has a value of "0"); or the control resource set pool index associated with the DCI has a specific value (e.g., the specific value is "1").
[0210] Figure 8 is an exemplary flowchart for prioritizing a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). Operation 802 includes the wireless device receiving downlink control information (DCI) that schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), wherein the scheduling offset between the PDSCH and the DCI is less than a threshold. Operation 804 includes the wireless device prioritizing the reception of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), wherein the PDCCH overlaps with the PDSCH for at least one time unit. Operation 806 includes the wireless device receiving the PDCCH. In some embodiments, the method can be carried out according to embodiments 2 and 3. In some embodiments, further steps of the method can be performed based on better system performance than legacy protocols.
[0211] In some embodiments, the method involves a wireless device receiving a first indicated transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and a second indicated TCI state, wherein one or more TCI states corresponding to a PDCCH are different from one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, are not from one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, do not belong to or do not include one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, or one or more TCI states corresponding to a PDCCH are different from any of the one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, or the pseudo-collocation type D (QCL-type D) property corresponding to a PDCCH is one or more specific T from the first and second indicated TCI states The QCL-Type D property corresponding to PDCCH is different from the CI state, is not from one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, does not belong to one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, or does not include one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, or further includes the fact that the QCL-Type D property corresponding to PDCCH is different from the QCL-Type D property corresponding to one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, is not from the QCL-Type D property corresponding to one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, does not belong to the QCL-Type D property corresponding to one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states, or does not include the QCL-Type D property corresponding to one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states.
[0212] In some embodiments, if the wireless device is in frequency range 1 or reports its ability to support one or more default beams in frequency range 2, one or more specific TCI states include both the first indicated TCI state and the second indicated TCI state. In some embodiments, one or more specific TCI states from the first and second indicated TCI states apply to the PDSCH, or the wireless device is in frequency range 2 or does not report its ability to support one or more default beams.
[0213] In some embodiments, the pseudo-collocation type D (QCL-type D) property corresponding to PDCCH is different from the QCL-type D property corresponding to PDSCH, is not from the QCL-type D property corresponding to PDSCH, does not belong to the QCL-type D property corresponding to PDSCH, or does not include the QCL-type D property corresponding to PDSCH, or the QCL-type D property corresponding to PDCCH is different from any of the QCL-type D properties corresponding to PDSCH, or the QCL-type D property corresponding to PDSCH is different from any of the QCL-type D properties corresponding to PDCCH.
[0214] In some embodiments, the PDCCH is associated with a control resource set pool index, and the transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state or pseudo-collocation type D (QCL-type D) property for the PDSCH is different from that for the PDCCH.
[0215] In some embodiments, the Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state for the PDCCH corresponds to the same control resource set pool index as the PDSCH. In some embodiments, the Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state for the PDCCH corresponds to a different control resource set pool index than the PDSCH. In some embodiments, the wireless device is in frequency range 2, or the wireless device does not report its ability to support one or more default beams.
[0216] Figure 9 is an exemplary flowchart for determining pseudo-collocation (QCL) properties. Operation 902 includes the wireless device receiving a downlink (DL) signal. Operation 904 includes the wireless device receiving downlink control information (DCI) that triggers an aperiodic channel state information reference signal (AP-CSI-RS), wherein the trigger offset between the AP-CSI-RS and the DCI is less than a threshold, and the AP-CSI-RS overlaps with the DL signal for at least one time unit. Operation 906 includes the wireless device determining the pseudo-collocation (QCL) properties for the AP-CSI-RS based on the DL signal. In some embodiments, the method can be carried out according to embodiments 2 and 3. In some embodiments, further steps of the method can be performed based on better system performance than legacy protocols.
[0217] In some embodiments, at least one of the following applies: one or more transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states corresponding to a DL signal are different from, or do not include, a specific TCI state indicated by the higher-layer configuration provided to the AP-CSI-RS; one or more QCL properties corresponding to a DL signal are different from, or do not include, a QCL property for the AP-CSI-RS; or one or more TCI states corresponding to a DL signal are different from, or do not include, a TCI state for the AP-CSI-RS.
[0218] In some embodiments, at least one of the following applies: DCI is associated with a control resource set pool index; or has a different value from the control resource set pool index associated with the DL signal and the control resource set pool index associated with AP-CSI-RS.
