Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a battery cell assembly, and more specifically, to a battery cell assembly in which a plurality of battery cells are fixed to a frame by a crimping method, and then the battery cells can be individually separated.

[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority based on Korean Patent Application No. 10-2024-0053114 filed on April 22, 2024, and all contents disclosed in the documents of the corresponding Korean patent application are included as part of the present specification.

Background Art

[0003] Recently, rechargeable and dischargeable batteries have been widely used as energy sources for wireless mobile devices. Batteries are used as energy sources for light transportation means including electric vehicles, electric scooters, electric bicycles, and electric kickboards.

[0004] Transportation means utilizing batteries have been proposed to solve air pollution caused by internal combustion transportation means using fossil fuels. However, in the process of manufacturing batteries, more carbon dioxide is emitted than the carbon emissions of internal combustion transportation means.

[0005] The EU Battery Regulation requires proof of environmental performance and stability throughout the entire life cycle of batteries from production to recycling for carbon neutrality. In addition, devices and light transportation means incorporating batteries must be provided to allow separation and replacement of the batteries.

[0006] In particular, batteries for light means of transport (LMTs) require the ability to be easily removed and replaced during the product lifecycle. Here, LMT batteries are defined as batteries with a total weight of 25 kg or less that provide power for the towing force of wheeled vehicles, and do not include batteries for electric vehicles.

[0007] Figure 1 shows an example of a battery cell assembly applied to a lightweight transport system; Figure 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a conventional battery cell assembly; Figure 3(a) is a plan view of a battery cell assembly in which the terminals of the battery cells are electrically connected by a wire bonding method; and Figure 3(b) is a schematic illustration of a state in which adhesive has been applied to multiple battery cells.

[0008] The battery cell assembly (10) includes a plurality of battery cells (20), an upper cover (11), a lower cover (13), and a frame (15). The frame (15) is for protecting the plurality of battery cells (20). The plurality of battery cells (20) are inserted into the frame (15) and secured by the upper cover (11) and the lower cover (13).

[0009] Referring to Figures 2 and 3(a), the upper cover (11) is connected to the frame (15) such that the first terminal (21) and the second terminal connection portion (22) of the battery cell (20) are exposed to the outside. An electrode terminal block (12) is provided on the upper cover (11).

[0010] The first terminal (21) may be a positive terminal. The second terminal connection portion (22) is the portion electrically connected to the second terminal (23). The second terminal (23) may be a negative terminal.

[0011] The battery cell assembly (10) consists of multiple battery cells (20) connected in series or in parallel, depending on the battery capacity of the lightweight transport means (30). The electrical connection of the multiple battery cells (20) may be performed by a wire bonding device (not shown).

[0012] The wire bonding apparatus (not shown) can wire bond the first terminal (21) and second terminal connection portion (22) of each battery cell (20) to the electrode terminal block (12) according to a preset coordinate system.

[0013] The wire bonding apparatus (not shown) can use very thin metal wires to wire bond the first terminal (21) of the battery cell to the electrode terminal block (12), and to wire bond the second terminal connection part (22) of the battery cell to the electrode terminal block (12).

[0014] The wires (13, 14) are the electric wires that connect the first terminal (21) and the second terminal connection portion (22) of the battery cell (20) to the electrode terminal block (12). When a surge occurs in the battery cell assembly (10), the wires (13, 14) can act as fuses, cutting and interrupting the electrical connection between the battery cell (20) and the electrode terminal block (12).

[0015] The wire bonding method has the advantage of solving the surge problem, which is the biggest hazard for batteries. However, in order to electrically connect the terminals (21, 22) of multiple battery cells (20) using the wire bonding method, the multiple battery cells (20) must be mounted in fixed positions on the frame (15).

[0016] For this reason, conventionally, an adhesive (G) was used to fix multiple battery cells (20) to the lower cover (13). Referring to Figure 3(b), the adhesive (G) is applied evenly to the lower surface of the multiple battery cells (20) on which the second terminal (23) is provided.

[0017] The lower cover (13) is attached to the frame (15) so as to cover the lower surfaces of the plurality of battery cells (20) on which the second terminals (23) are provided. The lower cover (13) is bonded and fixed to the lower surfaces of the plurality of battery cells (20) by adhesive (G).

[0018] In conventional battery cell assemblies (10), multiple battery cells (20) are bonded and fixed to a lower cover (13), and the terminals (21, 22) of each battery cell (20) are connected to an electrode terminal block (12) provided on the upper cover (11) by a wire bonding method.

[0019] In the event that some of the battery cells (20) among the multiple battery cells (20) experience problems such as over-discharge, damage, or short circuits while using the lightweight transport means (30), it has been difficult to individually separate the battery cells (20) due to the structure of the conventional battery cell assembly (10).

[0020] Therefore, with conventional battery cell assemblies (10), if a problem occurred with some of the battery cells (20) among the multiple battery cells (20), the entire battery cell assembly (10) had to be replaced to ensure the stability of the lightweight transport vehicle.

[0021] The method of replacing the entire battery cell assembly (10) using a lightweight transport method (30) required the disposal of all defective and working battery cells. The discarded battery cells were difficult to recycle and caused environmental pollution.

[0022] Furthermore, conventional battery cell assemblies (10) have a structure that makes it impossible to individually separate the battery cells (20), and therefore do not comply with EU battery regulations. Thus, it is necessary to develop a battery cell assembly (20) that allows for the individual separation of the battery cells (20). [Overview of the project] [Problems that the invention aims to solve]

[0023] The present invention is devised to solve the above-described problems, and an object thereof is to provide a battery cell assembly in which a plurality of battery cells are fixed to a frame by a crimping method, and the battery cells can be individually separated later.

[0024] An object of the present invention is to provide a battery assembly for light means of transport (LMT) that satisfies the requirements for battery assemblies for light means of transport (LMT) according to an embodiment of the present invention. [Means for Solving the Problems]

[0025] To achieve the above-mentioned object, a battery cell assembly according to an embodiment of the present invention may be configured as follows.

[0026] The battery cell assembly may include a plurality of battery cells, a frame to which the plurality of battery cells are mounted, an upper cover coupled to the upper surface of the frame so as to cover upper portions of the plurality of battery cells, and a lower cover coupled to the lower surface of the frame in a state where lower portions of the plurality of battery cells are partially inserted.

[0027] Further, the battery cell assembly includes a plurality of battery cells, a frame to which the plurality of battery cells are mounted, an upper cover coupled to the upper surface of the frame so as to cover upper portions of the plurality of battery cells, a first flexible portion interposed between the frame and the upper cover and having a plurality of first flexible holes such that the upper portions of the plurality of battery cells are respectively fitted and penetrated therethrough, and a lower cover coupled to the lower surface of the frame in a state where lower portions of the plurality of battery cells are partially inserted.

[0028] The terminal connection of the plurality of battery cells in the battery cell assembly is performed through the upper portion of the battery cells. That is, all electrical terminal connections of the positive electrode and the negative electrode are performed through the upper portion of the battery cells. Accordingly, terminal connections through the lower portion of the battery cells can be eliminated.

[0029] In order to separate each battery cell from the battery assembly, the connection between the frame and the lower cover is released. When the lower cover is removed, a part of the lower portion of the battery cell is positioned to protrude from the frame. Accordingly, by pulling the protruding portion of the battery cell to be removed, the battery cell can be easily separated from the frame.

[0030] Further, in the battery cell assembly, a first flexible portion may be interposed between the frame and the upper cover.

[0031] The first flexible portion has a plurality of first flexible holes such that the upper portions of the plurality of battery cells are respectively fitted and passed therethrough.

[0032] The first flexible portion is integrally crimped and fixed between the upper cover and the frame, and can restrict the vertical movement and radial movement of each of the plurality of battery cells.

[0033] The first flexible portion may be provided such that the periphery of the first flexible hole can come into contact with the upper surface of the frame.

[0034] The first flexible portion has one or more first fixing holes provided to respectively pass through one or more first fixing protrusions protruding from the upper surface of the frame at the periphery of the cell space of the frame.

[0035] The upper cover has one or more first cover protrusions that are respectively fitted and coupled to one or more first grooves provided on the upper surface of the frame, and is crimped and fixed to the upper surface of the frame through the first flexible portion.

[0036] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly has a second soft portion interposed between the frame and the lower cover.

[0037] The second flexible portion has multiple flexible grooves into which the lower parts of multiple battery cells are each inserted.

[0038] The second soft portion is formed by the integral arrangement of the plurality of soft grooves.

[0039] The second flexible portion can connect the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells together through the plurality of flexible grooves.

[0040] The second soft portion has a second soft hole that penetrates the bottom surface of the second soft groove.

[0041] The second soft portion has soft ribs that extend to a predetermined length at the bottom surface of the second soft groove and are provided to surround the battery cell.

[0042] The second soft portion is provided so as to cover the lower part of the plurality of battery cells that are exposed at the lower part of the frame.

[0043] The frame is provided with a recessed step extending circumferentially from its lower surface, such that there is a clearance space between the inner surface of the frame and the second soft portion when the second soft portion is inserted below the plurality of battery cells.

[0044] The lower cover is connected to the frame with the second flexible portion inserted below the plurality of battery cells, thereby restricting the vertical movement of each of the plurality of battery cells.

[0045] The lower cover has a recessed lower cover groove at the lower cover coupling surface that contacts the lower surface of the frame, and is coupled to the lower surface of the frame such that the lower cover groove contacts the second soft part, and is crimped and fixed to the plurality of battery cells through the second soft part.

[0046] The frame includes a first body and a second body, each having multiple cell spaces into which battery cells can be inserted, which are open in both directions along the longitudinal direction of the battery cells, and the first body and the second body are arranged to be mated and joined together.

[0047] A third soft part may be interposed between the first body and the second body.

[0048] The third soft portion has multiple third soft holes so that multiple battery cells can be fitted into and pass through each other.

[0049] The third flexible portion is pressed against the first and second main bodies around the third flexible hole, and the third flexible hole is pressed against the outer surface of the battery cell in the cell space of the frame, thereby restricting the radial movement of each of the plurality of battery cells.

[0050] The third flexible portion has one or more third fixing holes provided so as to pass through one or more second fixing protrusions protruding from the upper surface of the second main body, and is fixed to the upper surface of the second main body such that the third flexible holes are individually exposed to the cell space of the frame through the third fixing holes.

[0051] One or more third grooves are provided on the lower surface of the second body, and the second body fits and connects to the second cover projection of the lower cover through the third grooves.

[0052] One or more third grooves are provided on the lower surface of the second body, and the second body fits and connects to the projection of the second cover of the lower cover through the third grooves.

[0053] To achieve the aforementioned objectives, according to one embodiment of the present invention, a battery assembly for LMT can be provided. The battery cells used in the battery assembly may be cylindrical or prismatic.

[0054] Multiple battery cells are inserted into a frame and sealed, and the spacing between the battery cells is maintained through a flexible section. The flexible section may be provided on the top and / or bottom of the battery cells. The top and / or bottom of each battery cell fits and connects to a certain portion of the flexible section. Thus, not only the radial movement of the battery cells but also their longitudinal movement is restricted through the fixed flexible section.

[0055] Specifically, the battery cell assembly may include a plurality of battery cells having beading grooves recessed from the outer surface along the radial direction; a frame having a plurality of cell spaces into which the battery cells can be inserted, into which the plurality of battery cells are mounted such that the beading grooves are exposed at the top; a first flexible portion having a plurality of first flexible holes through which each of the plurality of battery cells passes, fixed to the upper surface of the frame in a state fitted and coupled to the beading grooves of the plurality of battery cells, and provided to fix the upper parts of the plurality of battery cells to the upper surface of the frame; and an upper cover that covers the upper parts of the plurality of battery cells and is coupled to the upper surface of the frame so as to be in contact with the first flexible portion, and is crimped and fixed to the upper surface of the frame through the first flexible portion.

[0056] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly may include a second flexible portion that has a plurality of flexible grooves into which each battery cell is inserted, and is inserted and fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells through the plurality of flexible grooves, thereby connecting the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells together.

[0057] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly may include a lower cover provided with a lower cover coupling surface that contacts the lower surface of the frame and a lower cover groove recessed in the lower cover coupling surface. The lower cover is coupled to the lower surface of the frame such that the lower cover groove covers the second flexible portion, and is crimped and fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells through the second flexible portion.

[0058] The upper parts of the plurality of battery cells are fixed together to the upper surface of the frame through the first flexible part, and the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells are pressed and fixed together to the lower cover through the second flexible part.

[0059] The first soft portion may be provided with a plurality of first soft holes arranged in the pattern of the battery cells, and the periphery of the first soft holes may be provided so as to be in contact with the upper surface of the frame.

[0060] Furthermore, the first soft portion has a plurality of first fixing holes through which each of the plurality of first fixing protrusions protruding from the upper surface of the frame passes, and is fixedly attached to the upper surface of the frame in a fixed position through the plurality of first fixing holes.

[0061] Furthermore, the second soft portion has a bottom surface of a second soft groove that is provided so as to be in surface contact with the bottom surface of the lower cover groove, and is tightly fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells through the lower cover.

[0062] Furthermore, the second soft portion may be integrally provided with soft ribs extending to a predetermined length from the bottom surface of the second soft groove so as to surround the outer surface of each battery cell.

[0063] Furthermore, the second flexible portion may have a plurality of flexible grooves into which the lower part of the battery cell can be inserted for a predetermined length, and may be provided so as to be insertable into the lower cover groove.

[0064] Furthermore, the second soft portion may be provided with the plurality of soft grooves integrated according to the arrangement pattern of the battery cells.

[0065] The frame includes a first body and a second body, each having multiple cell spaces open in both directions along the longitudinal direction of the battery cells, and the first body and the second body may be arranged to be mated and joined together.

[0066] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly may include a third flexible portion having a plurality of third flexible holes that penetrate each of the plurality of battery cells, positioned between the first body and the second body such that each third flexible hole is exposed to the respective cell space, and crimped and fixed to the outer surface of the plurality of battery cells through each of the third flexible holes.

[0067] The third soft portion has a plurality of third fixing holes that penetrate each of the second fixing protrusions of the second body, and is fixed in place at the second body bonding surface of the second body through the plurality of third fixing holes.

[0068] Furthermore, the third soft portion may be provided such that the plurality of third soft holes are arranged according to the arrangement pattern of the battery cells, and the periphery of the third soft holes is provided so as to be in contact with the first body and the second body.

[0069] The second body is recessed on its inner surface along its circumferential direction, and a stepped portion is provided on the lower surface of the second body. The second soft portion is inserted and fixed below the multiple battery cells exposed at the lower part of the second body, with a clearance between it and the stepped portion.

[0070] The first flexible section is fixed between the upper cover and the frame by the connection between them, and the upper parts of multiple battery cells are fixed together through the fixed first flexible section.

[0071] The second flexible section is fixed between the lower cover and the frame by the connection between them, and the lower parts of multiple battery cells are fixed together through the fixed second flexible section.

[0072] The battery cell assembly is disassembled in the reverse order of its manufacturing or assembly. In particular, once the lower cover is released from the frame and the lower cover is removed, the second flexible section and the lower part of the battery cell connected to it are exposed to the outside. The lower parts of the battery cells are spaced apart through the second flexible section. Once the second flexible section is removed, the lower parts of the battery cells are exposed to the outside with a certain spacing between them.

[0073] Therefore, the battery cell in question can be grasped at the bottom and separated from the frame. In this case, since the first and / or third flexible parts are fixed to the frame, the battery cell in question can be easily separated from the first and / or third flexible parts without being affected by the other battery cells.

[0074] Therefore, it is very easy to separate each of the multiple battery cells individually from the battery cell assembly, which means that each of the multiple battery cells can be easily replaced. [Effects of the Invention]

[0075] A battery cell assembly having the configuration and structure described above has the following effects.

[0076] The battery cell assembly can secure the plurality of battery cells to the frame by a crimping method. The battery cell assembly can also isolate the problematic battery cells when some of the plurality of battery cells experience a problem.

[0077] The battery cell assembly has an upper cover, a first flexible section, a frame, and a lower cover that are fitted and joined in place, and multiple battery cells can be crimped and fixed to the frame through the first flexible section, the second flexible section, and the third flexible section.

[0078] The first flexible portion is fitted and coupled to the beading grooves of the plurality of battery cells, and by fixing each battery cell to the frame in the longitudinal and lateral directions of the battery cell, it is possible to prevent surrounding battery cells from separating together when any one of the plurality of battery cells is separated from the frame.

[0079] The battery cell assembly has a structure in which each component is assembled in a separable manner, making it easy to disassemble the battery cell assembly and replace the battery cell in question.

[0080] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly can replace the problematic battery cell with a new one, thereby extending its lifecycle. [Brief explanation of the drawing]

[Figure 10] This figure illustrates the process of separating a problematic battery cell from a battery cell assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention and replacing it with a new battery cell. [Modes for carrying out the invention]

[0082] In the following, a battery cell assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the attached drawings.

[0084] A battery cell assembly (100) according to one embodiment of the present invention can be used as an energy source that can be attached to the lightweight transport means (30) shown in Figure 1.

[0085] The battery cell assembly (100) may include a plurality of battery cells (110), a frame (120) on which the plurality of battery cells (110) are mounted, an upper cover (140) that connects to the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120) so as to cover the upper parts of the plurality of battery cells (110), and a lower cover (170) that connects to the lower surface (125b) of the frame (120) with the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells (110) partially inserted. Furthermore, the battery cell assembly (100) may have a first flexible portion (130) interposed between the frame (120) and the upper cover (140).

[0086] The battery cell (110) may be a cylindrical battery cell or a prismatic battery cell. Since the structure and configuration of the battery cell are well known, a detailed explanation of the structure and configuration of the battery cell (110) will be omitted. Furthermore, in order to aid in understanding the explanation, this document will describe an assembly for putting multiple cylindrical battery cells into a single module.

[0087] The battery cell (110) has a positive terminal (111), a negative terminal (113), a negative terminal connection portion (115), and a beading groove (112). The beading groove (112) is a portion that is recessed radially from the outer surface of the battery cell (110).

[0088] The negative electrode connection portion (115) is provided around the positive electrode terminal (111) and is electrically connected to the negative electrode terminal (113) of the battery cell (110). The negative electrode terminal (113) is located on the opposite side of the positive electrode terminal (111).

[0089] Referring to Figure 5, the frame (120) includes a first body (121) and a second body (125) in which the plurality of cell spaces (126) are open in both directions along the longitudinal direction (L) of the battery cell (110). [0090] The cell space (126) is a space into which the battery cells (110) are inserted. The cell space (126) is open in both directions along the longitudinal direction (L) of the battery cells (110). The frame (120) has a length shorter than the length of the battery cells (110). The plurality of battery cells (110) are inserted into their respective cell spaces (126) such that the upper and lower parts of the battery cells (110) are exposed to the outside of the frame (120).

[0091] In the battery cell assembly (100), the upper parts of the plurality of battery cells (110) are fixed together to the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120) through a first flexible portion (130). The upper part of the battery cell (110) includes a positive terminal (111), a negative terminal connection portion (115), and a beading groove (112), and is the portion exposed to the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120).

[0092] The first flexible portion (130) has a plurality of first flexible holes (131) such that the upper parts of a plurality of battery cells (110) fit into and pass through each of them. The first flexible portion (130) is provided so that the periphery of the first flexible holes (131) can contact the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120).

[0093] The plurality of first soft holes (131) have an arrangement pattern of the plurality of battery cells (110). The plurality of first soft holes (131) are openings through which the battery cells (110) pass. The first soft holes (131) are provided with a diameter that is the same as the diameter of the beading groove (112) of the battery cell (110), or within a range that allows them to be in close contact with the beading groove (112) when crimped.

[0094] The first soft portion (130) has one or more first fixing holes (133) around the first soft hole (131). The first fixing holes (133) are provided around the first soft hole (131).

[0095] The first fixing holes (133) are provided so as to penetrate the first fixing projections (127) on the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120). The first fixing holes (133) have a diameter larger than the diameter of the first fixing projections (127).

[0096] The first soft portion (130) is fixed to the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120) such that each of the plurality of first fixing holes (133) penetrates each of the plurality of first fixing protrusions (127) of the first body (121), and the plurality of first soft holes (131) can be fitted and coupled into the beading grooves (112) of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0099] The first soft part (130) may have a crimpable material, such as rubber or silicone. Due to the characteristics of the crimpable material, the first soft part (130) has a predetermined elasticity, and the beading groove (112) of the battery cell (110) fits and connects to the first soft hole (131) in a manner in which the battery cell (110) penetrates the first soft hole (113).

[0100] The first soft part (130) is secured to the upper surface (121a) of the first body (121) at a predetermined position, as the plurality of first fixing holes (133) catch on the plurality of first fixing protrusions (127) of the first body (121).

[0101] The first flexible portion (130) is interposed between the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120) and the upper cover (140). The upper cover (140) is pressed and fixed to the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120) through the first flexible portion (130).

[0102] The upper cover (140) has one or more first cover protrusions (149) that fit into one or more first grooves (122) provided on the upper surface (121a) of the frame (120). [0103] The upper cover (140) is fitted and coupled to the upper surface (121a) of the first body (121) so as to cover the top of the plurality of battery cells (110). The first cover projection (149) penetrates each of the first mounting holes (135) of the first soft part (130) and is inserted into the first groove (122).

[0104] The first flexible portion (130) is integrally compressed and fixed between the upper cover (140) and the frame (120), thereby restricting the vertical movement (L) and radial movement (D) of each of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0105] The first soft portion (130) has multiple first soft holes (131) that are in close contact with the upper surface (121a) of the first body (121) and the upper cover (140). The first soft portion (130) has multiple first soft holes (131) that are in close contact with the beading grooves (112) of each battery cell (110) in the radial direction (D) of the battery cell (110).

[0106] The first soft part (130) is structured to fit and connect to the beading grooves (112) of the plurality of battery cells (110) by a crimping method, which restricts the movement of the battery cells (110) in the longitudinal direction (L) through the beading grooves (112), and prevents the surrounding battery cells (110) from being separated when separating a battery cell that is causing problems in the frame (120) (see battery cell 110a in Figure 10(e)).

[0107] The radial direction (D) is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (L) of the battery cell (110). The radial direction (D) is perpendicular to the outer surface of the battery cell (110).

[0108] Furthermore, in the battery cell assembly (100), the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells (110) are integrally crimped and fixed to the lower cover (170) through the second flexible part (160). The lower part of the battery cell (110) is the portion that is exposed to the lower surface (125b) of the second main body (125) and is provided with a negative electrode terminal (113).

[0109] The second soft part (160) may be interposed between the frame (120) and the lower cover (170). The second soft part (160) may have a crimpable material, such as rubber or silicone.

[0110] The second flexible portion (160) is provided to cover the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells (110) that are exposed at the lower part of the frame (120). For example, the second flexible portion (160) is provided as a holder type into which the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells (110) are inserted and fixed to a predetermined length.

[0111] The second flexible portion (160) may have a plurality of flexible grooves (161) into which the lower parts of a plurality of battery cells (110) are each inserted. The flexible grooves (161) are provided so that the lower parts of the battery cells (110) can be inserted to a predetermined length.

[0112] The second soft portion (160) is inserted into and fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110) through the plurality of soft grooves (161).

[0113] The second soft portion (160) may be formed by integrally creating the plurality of soft grooves (161). The second soft portion (160) can connect the lower parts of the plurality of battery cells (110) together through the plurality of soft grooves (161).

[0114] The bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161) supports a plurality of battery cells (110) and is provided so as to be in surface contact with the bottom surface of the lower cover groove (173). The second soft portion (160) may have a second soft hole (163) that penetrates the bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161).

[0115] The second soft hole (163) is an opening that penetrates the bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161). The second soft hole (163) has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the battery cell (110). The second soft hole (163) acts as an air passage when the bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161) of the second soft part (160) is pressed against the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0116] The air between the bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161) and the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110) flows to the outside of the second soft part (160) through the second soft hole (163). As a result, the second soft part (160) is tightly attached to and fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0117] The second soft portion (160) may have soft ribs (164) that extend from the bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161) to a predetermined length and surround the battery cell (110).

[0118] The flexible ribs (164) protrude from the bottom surface (162) of the second flexible groove (161) to a predetermined length, surrounding the outer surfaces of each of the multiple battery cells (110). The length of the flexible ribs (164) may be the same as or shorter than the length to which the battery cells (110) are exposed below the frame (120).

[0119] The second flexible portion (160) is pressed and fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110) and the bottom surface of the lower cover groove (173) when the lower cover (170) and the frame (120) are joined. The lower cover groove (173) may be provided so as to be able to contact the bottom surface (161) of the second flexible groove (161) of the second flexible portion (160) and to have a clearance space with the outer surface of the flexible rib (164).

[0120] The lower cover (170) has a recessed lower cover groove (173) at the bonding surface of the lower cover (170) that contacts the lower surface (125b) of the frame (120), and is bonded to the lower surface (125b) of the frame (120) such that the lower cover groove (173) contacts the second soft part (160), and is crimped and fixed to the plurality of battery cells (110) through the second soft part.

[0121] The lower cover (170) is connected to the frame (120) with the second soft portion (160) inserted below the plurality of battery cells (110), thereby restricting the vertical movement of each of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0122] On the other hand, the frame (120) includes a first body (121) and a second body (125). The first body (121) and the second body (125) are crimped and fixed through a third flexible part (150).

[0123] The first body (121) and the second body (125) are fitted and joined together. The first body (121) and the second body (125) are fitted and joined together in a fixed position through a plurality of second fixing grooves (not shown) and a plurality of second fixing protrusions (128).

[0124] The second fixing groove (not shown) is recessed in the first body coupling surface (121b) and is provided so that the second fixing projection (128) can be inserted into it. The first body coupling surface (121b) is the portion of the second body (125) that is in contact with the second body coupling surface (125a). The first body coupling surface (121b) is the lower surface of the first body (121).

[0125] The second fixing projection (128) protrudes from the second main body coupling surface (125a) and is provided to be insertable into the second fixing groove (not shown). The second fixing projection (128) is provided around the cell space (126).

[0126] Furthermore, the second body (125) has a plurality of second grooves (124) on its second body coupling surface (125a). The plurality of second grooves (124) are the parts into which the plurality of first protrusions (123) of the first body fit and connect. The second grooves (124) of the second body (125) are located coaxially with the first grooves (122) and first protrusions (123) of the first body.

[0127] The first body (121) and the second body (125) are crimped and fixed together through the third flexible part (150). The third flexible part (150) can crimp and fix the intermediate portions of multiple battery cells (110) to the frame (120). The third flexible part (150) can have multiple third flexible holes (151) so that multiple battery cells (110) can fit into and pass through each other.

[0128] The third soft part (150) has a plurality of third soft holes (151), a plurality of third fixing holes (153), and a plurality of third mounting holes (155). The third soft part (150) may have a crimpable material, for example, a rubber material or a silicone material.

[0129] The plurality of third soft holes (151) are provided by the arrangement pattern of the battery cells (110). The third soft portion (150) is provided so that the periphery of the third soft holes (151) can contact the first body bonding surface (121b) of the first body (121) and the second body bonding surface (125a) of the second body (125).

[0130] The third soft portion (150) has one or more third fixing holes (153) provided so as to pass through one or more second fixing protrusions (128) that protrude from the upper surface of the second main body (125).

[0131] The third flexible portion (150) is fixed to the upper surface (125a) of the second main body (125) such that the third flexible holes (151) are individually exposed to the cell space (126) of the frame (120) through the third fixing holes (153).

[0132] The third soft portion (150) is pressed against the first body (121) and the second body (125) around the third soft hole (151), and the third soft hole (151) is pressed against the outer surface of the battery cell (110) in the cell space (126) of the frame (120), thereby restricting the radial movement of each of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0133] In the battery cell assembly (100), the plurality of battery cells (110) are crimped and fixed to the intermediate portion of the frame (120) through the third flexible portion (150).

[0134] The lower surface (125b) of the second body (125) may be provided with a recessed step (125c) along the circumferential direction.

[0135] The stepped portion (125c) is provided such that there is a clearance space between the inner surface of the frame (120) and the second soft portion (160) when the second soft portion (160) is inserted into the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110). The stepped portion (125c) is a gap space provided so that the second soft portion (160) does not come into contact with the inner surface of the frame (120).

[0136] The second soft portion (160) is inserted and fixed to the lower part of the multiple battery cells (110) through the stepped portion (125c) without being in close contact with the inner surface of the frame (120).

[0137] When the battery cell assembly (100) is disassembled, the lower cover (170) is separated from the frame (120), and the second flexible portion (160) is exposed to the outside of the frame (120) through the stepped portion (125c) without being in close contact with the inner surface of the frame (120), and can be easily separated from the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0138] The lower cover (170) is fitted and coupled to the lower surface (125b) of the second body (125) so as to cover the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110) to which the second soft part (160) is attached. The lower cover (170) is coupled to the lower surface (125b) of the second body (125) so as to contact the bottom surface (162) of the second soft groove (161) of the second soft part (160).

[0139] The lower cover (170) has a lower cover coupling surface (172) that contacts the lower surface (125b) of the frame (120) and a lower cover groove (173) recessed in the lower cover coupling surface (172).

[0140] The lower cover (170) is bonded to the lower surface (125b) of the frame (120) such that the lower cover groove (173) covers the second soft portion (160), and is crimped and fixed to the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110) through the second soft portion (160).

[0141] The lower cover (170) has a plurality of second cover protrusions (174) that protrude from the coupling surface (172) of the lower cover. The lower cover (170) fits and connects to the third groove (see third groove 129 in Figure 10(e)) of the second body (125) from a fixed position through the plurality of second cover protrusions (174). The lower cover (170) is also connected to the second body (125) by screws (171).

[0142] The battery cell assembly (100) can be assembled in a simple assembly method in which each component is fitted and joined in a fixed position, thereby joining the multiple battery cells (110) in a fixed position on the frame (120), and improving the manufacturing efficiency of the battery cell assembly (100).

[0143] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly (100) has a structure in which each component is assembled in a separable manner, making it easy to disassemble the battery cell assembly (100) and easy to replace some of the battery cells (110a).

[0144] Furthermore, the battery cell assembly (100) can replace some of its battery cells (110a) with new battery cells (110), thereby extending its lifecycle.

[0145] In this document, the battery cell assembly (100) is described based on an example in which the terminals of the multiple battery cells (110) are connected by a wire bonding method, but it is not necessarily limited to this, and the terminal connection method of the battery cells can be changed to various examples.

[0146] The following describes the structure of the upper cover (140) when the terminal connection method for the plurality of battery cells (110) of the battery cell assembly (100) is wire bonding.

[0147] The upper cover (140) has a plurality of first cover holes (141), a plurality of second cover holes (142), and an electrode terminal block (143).

[0148] The first cover hole (141) is an opening provided so as to expose the positive terminal (111) of the battery cell (110). The second cover hole (142) is an opening provided so as to expose the negative terminal connection portion (115) which is electrically connected to the negative terminal (113) of the battery cell (110). The negative terminal connection portion (115) is provided so as to surround the positive terminal (111) at the top of the battery cell (110).

[0149] The negative terminal (113) is located at the bottom of the battery cell (110). The second cover hole (142) is located between two adjacent first cover holes (141). The second cover hole (142) is an opening with a different shape from the first cover hole (141).

[0150] The positive terminal (111) and the negative terminal connection (115) are electrically connected to the electrode terminal block (143) by a wire (191, 192) bonding method. The wires (191, 192) may be made of an electrically conductive material such as copper or aluminum.

[0151] Drawing number 191 is a positive electrode wire (191) connecting the positive electrode terminal (111) and the electrode terminal block (143). Drawing number 192 is a negative electrode wire (192) connecting the negative electrode connection part (115) and the electrode terminal block (143).

[0152] The battery cell assembly (100) can individually separate the battery cell (110a) that needs to be replaced from the frame (120) through the following process. The battery cell (110a) that needs to be replaced (or the problematic battery cell) is a battery cell (110) that has experienced a problem such as damage or a short circuit.

[0153] The process of replacing the problematic battery cell (100a) in the battery cell assembly (100) will be explained with reference to Figures 8 to 10. Figures 8 to 10 are diagrams illustrating the process of separating the problematic battery cell and replacing it with a new battery cell in a battery cell assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0154] Referring to Figure 8(a), the wire (191, 192) bonding between the terminal of the battery cell (110a) in question and the electrode terminal block (143) is cut.

[0155] Referring to Figure 8(b), after separating the lower cover (170) from the frame (120), the second flexible part (160) is separated from the lower part of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0156] Referring to Figure 9(c), when the lower cover (170) is separated from the frame (120), the second soft part (160) is exposed to the outside. In this state, the second soft part (160) is peeled off to the bottom of the plurality of battery cells (110).

[0157] The second soft part (160) is made of rubber, and when the pressing force of the lower cover (170) is released, the clamping force on the plurality of battery cells (110) (see clamping force P in Figure 7) is also released, and the plurality of battery cells (110) can be easily separated from the lower part.

[0158] Next, referring to Figures 9(d) and 10(e), the problematic battery cell (110a) is separated from the cell space (126) of the frame (120), and a new battery cell (110) is inserted into the cell space (126) of the frame (120).

[0159] The problematic battery cell (110a) can be separated from the frame (120) by pulling it in the longitudinal direction (L) of the battery cell (110) with a force greater than the clamping force (P) between the first soft part (130) and the third soft part (150) on the problematic battery cell (110a).

[0160] Next, after the second flexible portion (160) is attached to the bottom of the multiple battery cells (110), including the new battery cell (110), the lower cover (170) is joined to the lower surface (125b) of the frame (120). Finally, referring to Figure 10(f), the terminals of the new battery cell (110) and the electrode terminal block (143) are bonded with wires (191, 192).

[0161] The battery cell assembly (100) has a structure that fixes the plurality of battery cells (110) to the frame (120) by a crimping method, and the battery cells (110) can be individually separated from the frame (120) by releasing the crimping force (P) of the first soft part (130) and the second soft part (160) on the battery cells (110).

[0162] The connection between the upper cover (140) and the frame (120) fixes the first flexible part (130) between them, and the upper parts of multiple battery cells (110) are fixed together through the fixed first flexible part (130).

[0163] The connection between the lower cover (170) and the frame (120) fixes the second flexible part (160) between them, and the lower parts of multiple battery cells (110) are fixed together through the fixed second flexible part (160).

[0164] The battery cell assembly (100) is disassembled in the reverse order of its manufacturing or assembly. In particular, once the lower cover (170) and the frame (120) are released and the lower cover (170) is removed, the second flexible part (160) and the lower part of the battery cell (110) connected to the second flexible part (160) are exposed to the outside. The lower part of the battery cell (110) is at a certain distance through the second flexible part (160). Once the second flexible part (160) is removed, the lower part of the battery cell (110) is exposed to the outside at a certain distance.

[0165] Therefore, the lower part of the battery cell in question (110a) can be grasped and separated from the frame (120). At this time, since the first flexible part (130) and / or the third flexible part (150) are fixed to the frame (120), the battery cell in question (110a) can be easily separated from the first flexible part (130) and / or the third flexible part (150) without being affected by the other battery cells (110).

[0166] Therefore, it is very easy to separate each of the multiple battery cells (110) individually from the battery cell assembly (100), which allows each of the multiple battery cells (110) to be easily replaced.

[0167] The preferred embodiments of the present invention described above are disclosed for illustrative purposes only, and a person skilled in the art with ordinary skill in the invention will know that various modifications, changes, and additions are possible from the spirit and scope of the invention, and such modifications, changes, and additions should be considered to fall within the claims below. [Industrial applicability]

[0168] According to one embodiment of the present invention, a battery cell assembly can be fixed to a frame by a crimping method, and when a problem occurs in some of the battery cells among the plurality of battery cells, those battery cells can be individually separated.
