Method and device for recognizing specific fields on forms

Abstract

To provide a method for further easily recognizing a desired region surrounded by ruled lines as a particular field, and a ledger sheet reading device.SOLUTION: The method includes: a step 201 of extracting, for an obtained image, selected colors that have a continuity which is equal to or greater than a predetermined value as a ruled line; a step 202 of comparing the ruled line with a registered type relating to a ruled-line intersection shape to extract a portion corresponding to any shape of the registered type as an intersection relating to such a shape; a step 203 of performing reconfiguration with a line that interconnects the intersections adjacent in a lengthwise direction of the ruled line of each intersection as a new ruled line; and a step 204 of designating a ruled line route to the intersection that becomes an end point with any one of the intersections being as an origin, and recognizing, as a particular field, a region surrounded by ruled lines that have end points reached along the designated route as one corner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
