Abstract

Novel antibodies are provided that protect against multiple group 1 and group 2 subtypes of influenza A virus. The present invention relates to antibodies and binding fragments thereof that bind to influenza A virus hemagglutinin and are capable of neutralizing at least one group 1 subtype and at least one group 2 subtype of influenza A virus. In one embodiment, the antibody or binding fragment described in the present invention is capable of binding to and / or neutralizing one or more group 1 subtypes of influenza A virus selected from H1, H2, H5, H6, H8, H9, H11, H12, H13, H16, and H17 and variants thereof, and one or more group 2 subtypes of influenza A virus selected from H3, H4, H7, H10, H14, and H15 and variants thereof.
