Abstract

To provide a medical instrument having a magnetic resonance imaging system that has an imaging zone.SOLUTION: Execution of machine-executable instructions causes a processor controlling a medical instrument to repeatedly control a magnetic resonance imaging system with a calibration pulse sequence command to acquire a plurality of slices of magnetic resonance calibration data by using at least one of three orthogonal gradient coils to generate a slice selection gradient magnetic field, to compute Fourier transformation of magnetic resonance calibration data with respect to voxels of the multiple slices in a phase coding direction, to calculate an expansion of the Fourier transformed magnetic resonance calibration data into spherical harmonics, and to calculate a three-dimensional gradient impulse response function with respect to at least one of the three orthogonal gradient coils by using the expansion into the spherical harmonics.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
