Fingerprint reader

Abstract

To provide a fingerprint reader with which it is possible to suppress the positional deviation, relative to a reading surface, of the finger from which to read a fingerprint.SOLUTION: The fingerprint reader comprises: a placement unit on which a finger is placed; a reading surface which the finger placed on the placement unit touches; a pair of light sources provided in the placement unit, for irradiating the finger placed on the placement unit with light; and a reading unit for imaging and reading the fingerprint of the finger being in contact with the reading surface by the light scattered inside of the finger and emitted from the surface of the finger. The pair of light sources include a lightguide unit provided at side edges of the reading surface facing each other in the width direction of the placement unit and formed along the longitudinal direction of the placement unit, the lightguide unit being formed so as to extend to above an edge of the reading surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
