Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a belt retractor having an electrically actuatable locking device comprising the features of the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] A typical electrically actuatable locking device is known, for example, from GB 2398824 A1.
[0003] Such a locking device is used to stop an externally toothed control disc, which is rotatably mounted on the belt shaft of the belt retractor, against the belt shaft, thereby forcing a locking pawl into a gear fixed to the vehicle, causing an actuating movement, by which the belt shaft is then locked in the unwinding direction.
[0004] In conventional mechanical locking devices, an inertial mass is applied on a contact surface, which deflects when a certain vehicle deceleration is exceeded, thereby deflecting the locking lever and engaging it in the gear of the control disk. Such mechanical locking devices are also called vehicle-sensitive sensor devices. One problem with these mechanical locking devices is that the inertial mass must always be aligned in a defined orientation on the contact surface relative to the vehicle longitudinal axis and the vehicle transverse axis, independent of the installation geometry of the belt retractor, so that the belt shaft is not locked unintentionally. Therefore, the belt retractor must be designed individually for the vehicle, in which the orientation of the contact surface and the mass applied to the contact surface are designed individually for the belt retractor, so that the orientation of the contact surface and the mass applied to the contact surface correspond to a defined orientation, taking into account the installation geometry of the belt retractor in the vehicle. Furthermore, in the case of belt retractors integrated in the front seats, for example in convertibles, there is the problem that when the seat back is adjusted to a tilt angle or folded forward to get into the back seat, the inertial mass is unintentionally deflected on the contact surface, as a result of which the locking lever is unintentionally pressed into the external teeth of the control disk, causing an actuating movement. The belt retractor is therefore locked in the withdrawal direction, the seat back cannot be pivoted further or the occupant cannot buckle the seat belt. To avoid this, additional disconnecting or compensating mechanisms must be provided, which can only function in these cases so that the occupant is always restrained in an accident. Due to these tasks to be accomplished, such mechanical locking devices are mechanically very complex.
[0005] In the case of an electrically actuatable locking device, as known, for example, from GB 2 398 824, the movement of the locking lever is, in contrast, electrically controlled, as a result of which the previously required inertial mass is omitted. This allows the belt retractor to be mounted unchanged in different installation positions in the vehicle and in the seat back. Furthermore, the locking of the belt shaft can be controlled by an electric signal from a control device. This allows the signal to be generated by the control device, which can also generate the signal depending on other sensor devices or control systems. For example, it is provided that the belt shaft is automatically locked when a driving dynamics assistance system is activated, and that the driving dynamics assistance system is controlled depending on a signal of, for example, an optical sensor device. Thus, the electric locking device is also controlled directly or indirectly depending on a signal of an optical sensor device.
[0006] An electrically actuatable locking device 100 used by the applicant in its products and corresponding to the embodiment of GB 2 398 824 is shown in figures 3 and 5. The electrically actuatable locking device 100 comprises as basic elements a housing 1 having an L-shaped basic structure with a base plate 15 and an upstanding first limb 16, a locking lever 2 pivotally mounted on the upstanding first limb 16 of the housing 1, an electromagnet 3 and a spring 4 held at one end on the housing 1 and connected at the other end to the end of the locking lever 2 projecting outward from the upstanding first limb 16. The spring 4 is designed as a tension spring, whereby it biases the locking lever 2 into a position in which it engages in the external teeth of the control disc 21, thereby restraining the control disc 21 against the belt shaft. In this way, when the belt shaft rotates in the unwinding direction, the locking pawl is automatically pressed into a gear fixed to the vehicle, causing an actuating movement, and the belt shaft is then locked against further belt unwinding. The locking lever 2 comprises a contour part 24 and a steel plate 5, which faces the electromagnet 3, so that when the electromagnet 3 is energized, the locking lever 2 is attracted by the electromagnet 3 and is therefore withdrawn from the external teeth of the control disk 21. As a result, the belt shaft can then rotate freely in the unwinding and retracting directions. The advantage of this solution is that even in the event of a power failure or a defect of the electromagnet 3, the belt shaft is locked in the unwinding direction, and even in this case the occupant is reliably restrained.
[0007] The electromagnet 3 comprises a base component 6 having a column-shaped central portion 7 and two radial flanges 8, one of which in each case projects radially outward at one of the ends of the central portion 7. The electromagnet 3 is held with the base component 6 on a base plate 15 of the housing 1. The base component 6 has a tubular through-portion 14 in the central portion 7 and an annular intermediate space 9 radially outward on the central portion 7, which is limited towards the end central portion 7 by the radial flanges 8. Furthermore, the electromagnet 3 comprises a coil 10 having a number of windings, which is arranged in the annular intermediate space 9 and is in electrical contact with an external control device via a line 11 provided in the base component 6. In addition, the electromagnet 3 comprises a first iron core 12, which is arranged in the tubular through-portion 14 of the base component 6 and has a free end facing the steel plate 5 of the locking lever 2.
[0008] When the coil 10 is energized, the locking lever 2 is attracted by closing a first magnetic circuit I, which is defined by the first upstanding rim 16 of the housing 1, the first iron core 12, and the parts of the locking lever 2 and the base plate 15 that are between the first iron core 12 and the first upstanding rim 16, as shown in the right diagram of Figure 5.
[0009] It is an object of the present invention to provide a belt retractor having an electrically actuatable locking device which is improved with respect to locking movement and force requirements.
[0010] To achieve the object, a belt retractor is proposed having the features of claim 1. Further preferred embodiments of the invention can be found in the dependent claims, the figures and the associated description.
[0011] According to the basic idea of the invention, it is proposed that the damping element is formed by at least one elastically deformable hook arranged on the locking lever. The damping element is therefore arranged directly on the locking lever, whereby it directly damps the movement of the locking lever as soon as it rests on the hook against the housing. Due to the shape, dimensioning and selected material of the hook, the hook itself is elastic and, as a result, can deform on itself as soon as it rests against the opposing surface of the housing.
[0012] In this case, the hook may preferably be formed by a plastic hook integrally moulded onto the locking lever, whereby the intended damping of the locking lever can be realised particularly cost-effectively.
[0013] It is further proposed that at least one recess is provided on the housing, into which the hook enters during the movement of the hook in at least one position. The provided recess allows the locking lever to perform a full movement without being restricted by the hook. In addition, the hook in the recess can form a lateral guide for the locking lever.
[0014] It is further proposed that at least two hooks of the same shape are provided and oriented parallel to each other. By providing two parallel hooks, the locking lever is damped by two spaced apart elastic support points, the damping at the two support points being identical in magnitude and direction.
[0015] It is further proposed that the locking lever is formed by a pivotable plate, and the elastic protrusion and the bending locking tip are provided on the pivotable plate. Due to the properties and shape of the elastic protrusion and the bending locking tip, the elastic protrusion and the bending locking tip are arranged elastically on the plate, so that the elastic protrusion and the bending locking tip can perform a slightly damped movement even when engaged in the gear of the control disk. As a result, the locking movement of the belt retractor is further damped.
[0016] It is further proposed that a second upstanding limb is provided on the edge side of the base plate opposite the first upstanding limb and that a second iron core is arranged in the through opening, and that the movement of the locking lever is additionally performed by a second magnetic circuit upon activation of the electromagnet, the second magnetic circuit being formed by the second iron core, the second upstanding limb and the parts of the locking lever and the base plate which are between the second limb and the second iron core.
[0017] The advantage of the solution is seen in the fact that the holding force exerted by the electromagnet can be increased by simple means, without thereby increasing the local maximum load or the installation space requirements of the components involved. Conversely, this allows a stronger spring to be provided, which then allows a faster movement of the locking lever when the electromagnet is not activated. In particular, the base plate and the part of the locking lever, i.e. the part between the second iron core and the second limb, which was previously unused, are used to apply the actuation force. This is made possible in particular by providing a second limb and a second iron core. The second magnetic circuit is advantageously manufactured, which, when preferably an identical second iron core and an identical second limb are used, produces approximately the same holding force as the first magnetic circuit already present. Advantageously, there are two identical magnetic circuits acting in parallel.
[0018] It is further proposed that the first and second iron cores are crimped into a base plate of the housing and that the first upstanding limb and / or the second upstanding limb are integrally formed with the base plate. Both solutions allow cost-effective manufacturing and the crimped joint only requires an interference fit design.
[0019] Furthermore, the base plate may preferably have an end arranged on the side of the first rim facing away from the second rim, one end of the spring may be connected to the end of the base plate and the other end of the spring may be connected to an end of the locking lever protruding beyond the upstanding first rim. With the proposed solution, the upstanding first rim forms the pivot bearing and the upstanding second rim forms the support for the locking lever when the locking lever is not in the engagement position of the gear of the control disc, i.e. in the release position of the control disc.
[0020] It is further proposed that the locking lever is pivotally mounted about an axis of rotation arranged in the first upstanding rim, as a result of which moments acting in the mounting or in the locking lever and in the rim can be reduced.
[0021] Additionally, the coil may preferably have electrical contacts integrally molded onto the coil body, allowing for simplified electrical connection of the electromagnet to an external voltage source or external control unit. [Brief description of the drawings]
[0022] The invention will now be described based on preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: [Figure 1] FIG. 2 shows a belt retractor according to the present invention with a locked control disk. [Diagram 2] FIG. 2 shows a belt retractor according to the present invention with a released control disk. [Diagram 3]FIG. 1 is an exploded view of an electrically actuable locking device according to the prior art. [Figure 4] FIG. 2 is an exploded view of a further developed electrically actuatable locking device according to the present invention. [Diagram 5] FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of a prior art electrically actuable locking device having an attracted and biased locking lever. [Figure 6] FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view of a further developed electrically actuatable locking device according to the present invention having an attracted and biased locking lever. [Figure 7] 1A-1D are two different perspective views of a further developed electrically actuatable locking device according to the present invention;
[0023] In figures 1 and 2 a belt retractor is shown in each case with a housing 20 and a control disk 21 covered by the housing 20. The control disk 21 is rotatably mounted in a known manner on a belt shaft (not shown) and is spring-loaded by a spring in the winding direction relative to said belt shaft. Furthermore, an electrically actuable locking device 100 is provided on the belt retractor with a locking lever 2, which can be seen in the left image, which, by engagement into a gear of the control disk 21, presses a locking pawl mounted on the belt shaft into a gear fixed to the housing, resulting in an actuating movement during a further unwinding movement of the belt shaft, as a result of which the belt shaft is then locked against a further unwinding movement.
[0024] 4 shows a further developed electrically actuatable locking device 100 according to the invention, comprising a housing 1 and an electromagnet 3. The housing 1 comprises a base plate 15 and an upstanding first limb 16 on one side of the base plate 15. The housing 1 further comprises an upstanding second limb 19, which complements the housing 1 with the formation of an intermediate space relative to the upstanding first limb 16 to form a U-shaped profile. The upstanding first limb 16 and the upstanding second limb 19 may be integrally formed with the base plate 15 or alternatively may be integrated with the base plate 15.
[0025] The base component 6 is further provided with a central portion 7 and two radial flanges 8, between which is provided an intermediate space 9, in which a coil 10 is arranged. The base component 6 comprises two electric lines 11 connected to the coil 10 via contacts 18. In a through opening 14 of the base component 6, two iron cores 12 and 17 are provided, which are crimped into corresponding openings in a base plate 15 of the housing 1.
[0026] The locking lever 2, formed by the steel plate 5 and the enclosure 24, is located on the upper side of the locking device 100. The enclosure 24 may be clipped onto the steel plate 5 or may be otherwise integrally molded onto the steel plate 5, forming the locking lever 2 together with the steel plate 5 as a composite component.
[0027] The base plate 15 has an end 22 which projects outwardly beyond the upstanding first limb 16. The steel plate 5 of the locking lever 2 also has an end 23 which projects beyond the first limb 16. The end 23 and the end 22 serve for the attachment of the tension spring 4.
[0028] The locking lever 2 is pivotally mounted by a steel plate 5 on a first upstanding limb 16, so that, when the electromagnet 3 is not activated, the spring 4 pulls the locking lever 2 into a pivoted-out locking position, which is visible in the left view of Fig. 6. When the electromagnet 3 is activated, the locking lever 2 is attracted to the iron cores 12 and 17 in the position shown in the right view of Fig. 6, and in addition to the first magnetic circuit I, the second magnetic circuit II is additionally closed.
[0029] The advantage of the proposed solution is that, as can be seen, the second magnetic circuit II is created by the second limb 19 and the second iron core 17, which exerts an additional force on the locking lever 2, without the parts involved having larger dimensions or the locking device 100 thus becoming larger. Rather, the previously unused parts of the base plate 15 and the locking lever 2 or the steel plate 5 are used to generate the pulling force. In this case, the upstanding second limb 19 and the second iron core 17 are particularly important, since in addition to the yoke formed by the upstanding first limb 16 and the first iron core 12, a second yoke is created by them. In this case, the steel plate 5 forms a pivoting armature, by which both the first magnetic circuit I and the second magnetic circuit II are closed by attracting the locking lever 2 when the electromagnet 3 is energized.
[0030] Furthermore, two damping elements 13 are formed on the envelope 24 in the form of identical resilient hooks, which are arranged parallel to one another and which project beyond the edge of the steel plate 5. The damping elements 13 are shaped in such a way that the locking lever 2 comes into contact exclusively via the damping elements 13 with the housing 1 or with the upstanding second rim 19.
[0031] The locking lever 2 is formed by a pivotable plate in the form of a steel sheet 5, on which the envelope 24 is held. The hooks are part of the envelope 24, are formed identically and are arranged parallel to one another. Furthermore, a recess 25 is provided on the second rim 19 of the housing 1, into which the hooks enter at the position of the locking lever 2 attracted by the electromagnet 3. The recess 25 provides a corresponding free space, into which the hooks can enter without interfering with the movement of the locking lever 2.
[0032] Furthermore, the envelope 25 on the steel plate 5 has a bending elastic locking tip 27, which is shaped by bending, so that an intermediate space 26 exists between the locking tip 27 and the steel plate 5. This intermediate space 26 and the elastic properties of the locking tip 27 allow the locking tip 27 to deflect towards the steel plate 5 and thus to cause a damped triggering of the locking movement. Furthermore, when in a position where the teeth are meshing with the gear of the control disc 21, the locking tip 27 can perform a small bypass movement, whereby false locking can be prevented.
[0033] Both the new damping and shape of the locking lever 2 and the new design of the electromagnet 3 represent independent inventions, which further develop the locking device 100 independently of each other.
