Abstract

A method for continuous casting of steel is provided that can suppress fluctuations in reduction rate in the region where the central solid fraction of a slab is 0.7 or more and 1.0 or less. A method for continuous casting of steel in which a slab is cast while being soft reduced using a soft reduction zone, the method continuously predicts a region in the longitudinal direction of the slab where the central solid fraction of the slab is 0.7 to 1.0 using the operating conditions of the continuous casting machine, and dynamically changes the roll gap in the soft reduction zone so that fluctuations in the soft reduction rate in that region are kept below a predetermined value.
