Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to novel polymerized alkyl silicates. [Background technology]

[0002] Silicones are a class of materials of great industrial importance that are used in many technical fields. An industrially important property of silicones is, for example, their low tendency to crystallize, which distinguishes them from carbon-based polymers. Silicones remain liquid over a wide temperature range and have a very low glass transition temperature. However, due to the presence of alkyl moieties in the Si bonds, silicones are not easily decomposed in the environment at all. This characteristic increasingly limits the potential applications of silicones. Therefore, there is a steadily growing demand for alternative materials that can replace traditional silicones, which in principle can be hydrolyzed but have sufficient hydrolytic stability for practical use.

[0003] Patent documents 1 and 2 disclose a compound represented by the formula [(R a O)3SiO]3Si-O-KW-O-Si[OSi(OR a )3]3 (wherein KW represents a hydrocarbon group). However, these systems have a low molecular weight. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0007] The present invention achieves the above object.

[0039] Example 1: A polymer represented by formula (I) (wherein R a = 1,4-cyclohexylidene, Z = Si(OR b )3 (where R b = 2-Butyl), X = Cl, O-CH 10 -OH, m=14). 1.54 g (2.44 mmol) of [(2-BuO)3SiO]2SiCl2 in 0.5 ml of toluene is added dropwise to a mixture of 284 mg (2.44 mmol) of 1,4-cyclohexanediol and 430 mg (5.43 mmol) of pyridine in 1 ml of toluene. A white precipitate of pyridinium hydrochloride is formed. The mixture is then heated to 100° C. for 4 hours. The solution comprises a polymerized product with Mn=10000 Da / Mw=21000. This gives m=14. The precipitate of pyridinium hydrochloride formed is filtered off and the toluene is removed by rotary evaporation under vacuum. This gives a colorless oil with a dynamic viscosity at 25° C. of n=1.13 Pa·s. Glass transition temperature Tg=−107.6° C. 29 Si-NMR (CD2Cl2): δ=-92.5 and -98.6 ppm (2:1 ratio).

[0040] Example 2: A polymer represented by formula (I) (wherein R a =-CH2-CH2-(O-CH2-CH2)2-, Z=Si(OR b )3 (where R b = 2-butyl), X = -CH2-CH2-(O-CH2-CH2)2-OH, m = 13). 3.07 g (93%, 4.56 mmol) of [(2-BuO)3SiO]2SiCl2 is mixed with 1 ml of toluene. A mixture of 737 mg (4.91 mmol) of triethylene glycol, 856 mg (10.8 mmol) of pyridine, and 0.5 ml of toluene is slowly added to the solution. A white precipitate of pyridinium hydrochloride is immediately formed. The mixture is then heated to 100° C. for 4 hours. The solution comprises a polymerized product with Mn=9700 Da / Mw=22000. This gives m=13. 29 Si-NMR (CD2Cl2): δ=-92.3 and -96.8 ppm (2:1 ratio).

[0041] Example 3: A polymer represented by formula (I) (wherein R a =-CH2-CH2-(O-CH2-CH2)2-, Z=Si(OR b )3 (where R b = 2-butyl), X = -CH2-CH2-(O-CH2-CH2)2-OH, m = 13). The procedure of Example 2 is repeated at room temperature. After 3 hours, M n =12000Da / M w = 24000 Da polymer is formed. This gives m=13.

[0042] Example 4: A polymer represented by formula (I) (wherein R a =-CH2-CH2-(O-CH2-CH2)2-, Z=-C(CH3)2-CH2-CH3, X=CH2-CH2-(O-CH2-CH2)2-OH, Cl) The procedure of Example 2 is repeated, except that instead of [(2-BuO)3SiO]2SiCl2 a compound of formula [CH3-CH2-C(CH3)2O]2SiCl2 is used, the molar ratio is [CH3-CH2-C(CH3)2O]2SiCl2:triethylene glycol=1.0, and the reaction is carried out at 80° C. After 4 hours at 80° C. a polymer is formed with Mn=15500 Da / Mw=38300 Da, and after another 5 hours at 80° C. the mixture is worked up as described in Example 1. 6.2 g of polymerized product is obtained as a colorless oil. M n =16900Da / M w = 42400 Da. This gives m = 48. 29 Si-NMR (CD2Cl2): δ=-89.72ppm.
