Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a method for producing an aromatic bisether compound. [Background technology]

[0002] In recent years, polyester resins and polyester carbonate resins, which have a dicarboxylic acid component having an aromatic bisether skeleton as a polymerization component, have been expected to be used as raw materials for optical components such as optical disks, transparent conductive substrates, and optical filters because of their excellent optical properties such as high refractive index and low birefringence and high heat resistance. As a method for synthesizing a dicarboxylic acid component having an aromatic bisether skeleton, there are many known methods for reacting an aromatic dihydroxy compound with a halogen compound. For example, it has been reported that 2,2'-bis(2-ethoxycarbonylmethoxy)-1,1'-binaphthyl can be obtained by reacting 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol with a halogenated acetate such as ethyl chloroacetate (Patent Documents 1 and 2). [0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2018-059074 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2008-024650 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] The prior art including the above Patent Documents 1 and 2 did not consider industrial production of the aromatic bisether compound according to the present invention. On the other hand, when the present inventors continuously produced the aromatic bisether compound according to the present invention on an industrial scale, a problem occurred in that the amount of impurities increased and the yield of the target compound decreased. The present inventors considered the decrease in the yield of the target compound as follows. That is, in the reaction using an inorganic base such as potassium carbonate for industrial production of an aromatic bisether compound, washing with water is required after the reaction to remove the inorganic base. If this washing operation is performed in the same reaction vessel in which the reaction was carried out, there is a risk that a certain amount of water will remain in the reaction vessel, and it was considered that if the reaction is carried out continuously on an industrial scale, the amount of water in the reaction system will increase from the second reaction onwards. The present invention has been made against the background of the above-mentioned circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a new method for producing an aromatic bisether compound that can be industrially stably produced in high yield. [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] The present inventors have focused on the water remaining in the reaction vessel and investigated the effect of the amount of water in the reaction system on the reaction results. As a result, they have confirmed for the first time that when the reaction is carried out under conditions of increased water content, the etherification reaction rate actually slows down and the yield of the target compound decreases due to an increase in impurities. The present inventors have also found that aromatic bisether compounds can be produced industrially stably and in high yields by controlling the water content in the reaction liquid within a specific range, and have completed the present invention.

[0006] The present invention is as follows. 1. [0032] Specifically, for example, a reaction intermediate corresponding to the compound represented by the above formula (B) is a compound represented by the following formula (B'). [ka] In addition, when reacting a halide (2) where A in formula (2) is a group represented by formula (2a) with a compound represented by formula (1), if the water content in the reaction solution is high, the ester bond in the group is hydrolyzed to generate a by-product hydrolyzate as an impurity, as shown in the reaction formula below, further decreasing the reaction yield. However, by setting the water content in the reaction solution within the specific range of the present invention, the reaction yield of the target compound is significantly improved, which is particularly useful. [ka] As a result of undergoing hydrolysis as described above, among the compounds represented by the above formula (3), for example, the compound represented by formula (3-3-2a) becomes a compound represented by the following formula (3-3-2a"), which is one of the factors that cause a decrease in the reaction yield. [ka] (In formula (3-3-2a”), R 1 , n is the same as that in equation (1). Specifically, for example, the hydrolysate corresponding to the compound represented by the above formula (B) is a compound represented by the following formula (B″). [ka]

[0033] In the reaction of aromatic dihydroxy compound (1) with halide (2), the water content of the reaction liquid may be adjusted to a specific range, for example, by dehydration using a distillation operation, a dehydration method using a dehydrating agent, or a dehydration method using a membrane (e.g., a zeolite membrane) capable of separating water from the reaction mixture, such as a pervaporation method or a vapor permeation method. Among these, the dehydration method by distillation is preferred from the viewpoint of industrial operation simplicity. The conditions for performing the distillation operation vary depending on the type of solvent used and cannot be generalized, but the pressure may be either normal pressure or reduced pressure, and when performing under reduced pressure, the pressure is preferably in the range of 40 to 80 KPa, and the temperature is usually in the range of 70 to 120°C, preferably in the range of 90 to 100°C. On the other hand, when the water content is small, a method of adding water to the reaction liquid can be mentioned.

[0034] <Reaction complete> The end point of the reaction can be confirmed by liquid chromatography or gas chromatography analysis. The end point of the reaction is preferably the time when the unreacted aromatic dihydroxy compound (1) disappears and the increase in the target compound, the aromatic bisether compound (3), is no longer observed. The reaction time varies depending on the reaction conditions such as the reaction temperature, but is usually completed within about 1 to 30 hours. After the reaction is completed, water is added to the reaction solution, the mixture is stirred, and the mixture is left to stand to separate the aqueous layer. This washing operation is preferably carried out two or more times to remove inorganic salts in the reaction solution. The amount of water used in each washing operation is preferably in the range of 150 to 600 parts by weight, more preferably in the range of 200 to 400 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the aromatic dihydroxy compound (1) used. The temperature is preferably in the range of 60 to 100°C, more preferably in the range of 70 to 90°C. As for the stirring, it is sufficient that the oil layer is in sufficient contact with the aqueous layer, and although the required time varies depending on the apparatus, about 30 minutes is usually sufficient. It is preferable to purify and isolate the aromatic bisether compound (3), which is the target compound, from the oil layer after the washing operation. For example, the aromatic bisether compound (3), which is the target compound, can be obtained by performing post-treatment operations such as crystallization, filtration, distillation, and separation by column chromatography after the washing operation according to a conventional method. In order to further increase the purity, purification by distillation, recrystallization, and column chromatography may be carried out according to a conventional method. EXAMPLES

[0035] The present invention will be described in more detail below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples. The analysis method is as follows. <Analysis method> 1. Confirmation of the target compound concentration in the reaction solution, reaction yield, and reaction end point Measurement equipment: High-performance liquid chromatography analyzer (manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation) Pump: LC-20AD Column oven: CTO-20A Detector: SPD-20A Column: HALO-C18 Oven temperature: 50℃ Flow rate: 0.7mL / min Mobile phase: (A) acetonitrile, (B) 0.1 vol% phosphoric acid water Gradient conditions: (A) Volume % (time from start of analysis) 30%(0min)→100%(12min)→100%(15min) Detection wavelength: 280nm After the measurement under the above conditions, the reaction yield (%) of the target compound obtained in each of the examples and comparative examples was calculated using the liquid chromatography calibration curve of the target compound. As for the impurities, the content was calculated as the area percentage when the peak of the reaction solvent (methyl isobutyl ketone) was excluded from the measurement results under the above conditions. 2. Methods for analyzing moisture content Measuring equipment: Karl Fischer MKS-520 (Kyoto Electronics Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) The solution was titrated using 3 mg of Aquamicron titrant SS as a titrant, and the water content was measured by volumetric titration.

[0036] <Example 1> 30g of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol (A), 75g of methyl isobutyl ketone, 30.4g of potassium carbonate, and 0.6g of potassium iodide were charged into a four-neck flask, heated to 100°C, and stirred at the same temperature for 2 hours. After stirring, 30g of methyl isobutyl ketone was distilled out at a reduced pressure of 60-70KPa and a temperature of 90-100°C. The amount of water in the system at this time was 0.3% by weight based on the amount of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol used. After preparing a mixed solution of 28.2g of ethyl chloroacetate and 0.3g of N-methylpyrrolidone, this mixed solution was added dropwise while maintaining the temperature of the reaction solution at 90-100°C. The reaction formula at this time is shown below. After stirring for 10 hours, the reaction yield of the target compound, 2,2'-bis(2-ethoxycarbonylmethoxy)-1,1'-binaphthyl (B), was confirmed to be 99.1% using a high performance liquid chromatography calibration curve. In addition, it was confirmed that the content of the reaction intermediate (B') of (B) as impurities was 0.2%, and the content of 2,2'-bis(2-carboxymethoxy)-1,1'-binaphthyl (B"), which is a hydrolysis product of (B), was 0.3%. [ka]

[0037] <Example 2> 30 g of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol (A), 75 g of methyl isobutyl ketone, 30.4 g of potassium carbonate, and 0.6 g of potassium iodide were charged into a four-neck flask, heated to 100 ° C, and stirred at the same temperature for 2 hours. The amount of water in the system at this time was 0.6% by weight based on the amount of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol used. After preparing a mixed solution of 28.2 g of ethyl chloroacetate and 0.3 g of N-methylpyrrolidone, this mixed solution was added dropwise while maintaining the temperature of the reaction solution at 90 to 100 ° C. After stirring for 10 hours, the reaction yield of the target compound (B) was confirmed to be 98.2% using a high-performance liquid chromatography calibration curve. In addition, it was confirmed that the content of the reaction intermediate (B') as impurities was 0.4%, and the content of the hydrolyzate (B") was 1.1%.

[0038] <Example 3> 30 g of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol (A), 75 g of methyl isobutyl ketone, 30.4 g of potassium carbonate, and 0.6 g of potassium iodide were charged into a four-neck flask, heated to 100 ° C, and stirred at the same temperature for 2 hours. Water was added to the system so that the amount of water in the system was 1.3% by weight based on the amount of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol used. After preparing a mixed solution of 28.2 g of ethyl chloroacetate and 0.3 g of N-methylpyrrolidone, this mixed solution was added dropwise while maintaining the temperature of the reaction solution at 90 to 100 ° C. After stirring for 10 hours, the reaction yield of the target compound (B) was confirmed to be 93.8% using a high-performance liquid chromatography calibration curve. In addition, it was confirmed that the content of the reaction intermediate (B') as impurities was 2.9%, and the content of the hydrolyzate (B") was 1.5%.

[0039] <Comparative Example 1> 30 g of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol (A), 150 g of methyl isobutyl ketone, 30.4 g of potassium carbonate, and 0.6 g of potassium iodide were charged into a four-neck flask, heated to 100 ° C, and stirred at the same temperature for 2 hours. Water was added to the system so that the amount of water in the system was 2.0% by weight based on the amount of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol used. After the addition, a mixed solution of 28.2 g of ethyl chloroacetate and 0.3 g of N-methylpyrrolidone was prepared, and this mixed solution was added dropwise while maintaining the temperature of the reaction solution at 90 to 100 ° C. After stirring for 10 hours, the reaction yield of the target compound (B) was 83.8% by high performance liquid chromatography. In addition, it was confirmed that the content of the reaction intermediate (B') as impurities was 3.3%, and the content of the hydrolyzate (B") was 5.9%.

[0040] <Comparative Example 2> 30 g of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol (A), 150 g of methyl isobutyl ketone, 30.4 g of potassium carbonate, and 0.6 g of potassium iodide were charged into a four-neck flask, heated to 100°C, and stirred at the same temperature for 2 hours. Water was added to the system so that the amount of water in the system was 3.0% by weight based on the amount of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol used. After preparing a mixed solution of 28.2 g of ethyl chloroacetate and 0.3 g of N-methylpyrrolidone, this mixed solution was added dropwise while maintaining the temperature of the reaction solution at 90 to 100°C. After stirring for 10 hours, the reaction yield of the target compound (B) was confirmed to be 76.7% using a high-performance liquid chromatography calibration curve. In addition, it was confirmed that the content of the reaction intermediate (B') as impurities was 8.4% and the content of the hydrolyzate (B") was 4.1%.

[0041] <Comparative Example 3> The reaction was carried out in the same manner as in Comparative Example 1, except that water was added so that the water content in the system was 6.2% by weight based on the amount of 1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diol used. Using a high performance liquid chromatography calibration curve, it was confirmed that the reaction yield of the target compound (B) was 68.6%. In addition, it was confirmed that the content of the reaction intermediate (B') as impurities was 15.8%, and the content of the hydrolyzate (B") was 6.7%. For the above-mentioned Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 3, the amount of water in the reaction system relative to the amount of the compound represented by general formula (1) used, the reaction yield of the target compound (B), and the contents of the reaction intermediate (B') and hydrolyzate (B"), which are impurities, are shown in Table 1 and FIG. 1.

[0042] [Table 1]

[0043] In Comparative Examples 1 to 3, which do not use the production method of the present invention, the reaction yield is low for industrial production of the compound represented by the general formula (3). This is because the content of the reaction intermediate is high, and the etherification reaction proceeds slowly. In addition, a large amount of hydrolyzate is also produced. On the other hand, according to the production method of the present invention, it was found that the reaction yield was significantly improved to over 90% due to the promotion of the etherification reaction, and the production of hydrolyzates was also significantly suppressed. For this reason, the production method according to the present invention is extremely useful in industrial production.
