The object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claims 1, 21, 23 and 24, whereas advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are revealed by the subclaims. Summary of the Invention

[0006] [Effects of the invention] A connector system is proposed having a first connector device including a first universal module and a first configuration module, and having a second connector device including a second universal module identical to the first universal module and a second configuration module, the universal modules each including optical contacts and the configuration modules each defining the gender of the connector, the first connector device and the second connector device being suitable for entering into a common plug-in connection when assembled.

[0007] Such an embodiment can provide a connector system with improved properties in particular with regard to the structure. In particular, such an embodiment makes it possible to achieve particularly advantageous properties in terms of the form factor. In particular, such an embodiment can provide a first connector device and a second connector device that advantageously have a particularly slim form factor. In particular, an advantageously slim universal connector can be provided, which can be configured both male and female. Furthermore, prefabrication can be performed in particular simply, quickly and in particular reliably with the connector device. Furthermore, the reliability and / or the service life can be particularly improved, since the connector device is designed in particular to be reusable.

[0008] The first connector device and / or the second connector device can be configured as at least a part of a connector, in particular as a sub-module. In particular, the first connector device and / or the second connector device can also comprise the entire connector. The connector can be configured, for example, as an electrical connector. The connector is preferably configured as an optical connector. The connector can possibly also be configured as a hybrid connector intended to generate both at least one electrical plug-in connection and at least one optical plug-in connection. The first connector device and / or the second connector device can be configured, for example, as an electrical connector device. The first connector device and / or the second connector device is preferably configured as an optical connector device. The first connector device and / or the second connector device can also possibly be configured as a hybrid connector device. In particular, the first connector device and the second connector device can be part of a common connector, which can be configured, for example, but not limited thereto, as a robust connector. The first connector device and the second connector device can each be part of separate connectors, for example, plugged together. The assembled state corresponds in particular to a pre-manufactured, in particular operable, state in particular with respect to the cable.

[0009] The first universal module of the first connector device and the second universal module of the second connector device are of identical configuration to each other, and the first universal module may differ from the second universal module, for example in terms of manufacturing tolerances.

[0010] When assembled, the first configuration module and the second configuration module define connector genders for the first connector device and the second connector device, respectively. When assembled, the first configuration module and the second configuration module can possibly define different connector genders for the first connector device and the second connector device, respectively. When assembled, the first configuration module and the second configuration module can possibly also define the same connector gender for the first connector device and the second connector device, respectively.

[0011] When assembled, the first connector device and the second connector device include universal modules that are identically configured with respect to one another, regardless of the gender of the connector defined by the first configuration module and the second configuration module.

[0012] When assembled, the first connector device and the second connector device are intended to enter into a common plug-in connection, e.g. the first connector device and the second connector device can be plugged together. The first connector device and the second connector device could possibly be part of a connector together and in the assembled state are intended to enter together into a plug-in connection with another connector. It is further conceivable that the first connector device and the second connector device are part of separate connectors and in the assembled state are intended to enter into a plug-in connection with each other, the first connector device and the second connector device are plugged together, in particular plugged into each other.

[0013] Each of the universal modules includes optical contacts that are specifically configured as ferrules. The optical contacts may alternatively or additionally be configured as lenses and / or as lens contacts. The universal modules may, for example, include at least one component that holds the optical contacts when assembled.

[0014] "Intended" should be understood to mean specially designed and / or equipped. Where an item is intended for a particular function, this should be understood to mean that the item performs and / or executes this particular function in at least one application and / or operating condition.

[0015] It is further proposed that the first connector device and the second connector device, when assembled, have, at least in places, mutually identical external shapes. In particular, when assembled, the first connector device and the second connector device comprise at least one sub-region, in each case viewed from the plug-in direction, which mutually identical external shapes may differ, for example with respect to manufacturing tolerances. In particular, the first connector device and the second connector device, when assembled, have, at least in places, identical form factors. Such an embodiment may result in particularly advantageous properties, in particular with respect to the structure. In particular, it may provide a particularly good interchangeability. Furthermore, the number of parts, in particular with respect to the connector receptacle, may be kept advantageously low, which may further increase, in particular, the cost efficiency.

[0016] It is further proposed that the first and second component modules, when assembled, have, at least in places, mutually identical external shapes. In particular, when assembled, the first and second component modules comprise at least one sub-region, in each case viewed from the plug-in direction, which have mutually identical external shapes, which may differ, for example with respect to manufacturing tolerances. In particular, the first and second component modules, when assembled, have, at least in places, identical form factors. Such an embodiment may result in particularly advantageous properties, in particular with respect to the structure. In particular, it may provide a particularly good interchangeability. Furthermore, the number of parts, in particular with respect to the connector receptacle, may be kept advantageously low, which may further increase the cost efficiency in particular.

[0017] It is further proposed that the connector system comprises a receiving element comprising a first receptacle for the first connector device and a second receptacle for the second connector device. In particular, when assembled, the first connector device and the second connector device are received in the first receptacle and the second receptacle of the receiving element, respectively. In particular, when assembled, the receptacle surrounds the first connector device and the second connector device at least partially and preferably completely in the circumferential direction. The receiving element is in particular configured as an overhousing surrounding the connector devices. The receiving element can in particular, but without being limited thereto, be formed as an external housing that is at least substantially protected from environmental influences. The receiving element can be at least partially and preferably completely sealed against environmental influences. In particular, the receiving element can be protected, in particular sealed, against the ingress of water, such as, for example, splash water and / or rain water, and / or advantageously protected against the ingress of dust. The receiving element can possibly comprise a sealing element for sealing against environmental influences. When assembled, the receiving element may be protected, in particular sealed, for example with an IP67 rating, advantageously with an IP68 rating. In particular, the connector system, in particular the at least first connector device and / or the at least second connector device, is in particular suitable for permanent outdoor use. In this context, "at least substantially" should be understood to mean that the deviation from the specified value is in particular less than 25%, preferably less than 10%, particularly preferably less than 5% of said specified value. In particular, such an embodiment may improve the structure. In particular, such an embodiment may further provide the connector system with a wide range of application possibilities.

[0018] It is further proposed that the first receptacle and the second receptacle are of mutually identical construction. In particular, the first receptacle and the second receptacle are of at least substantially mutually identical construction. In particular, it is also conceivable that the first receptacle and the second receptacle are of integral construction, in particular when the first connector device and the second connector device are plugged together, in particular when plugged into each other, in order to enter into a common plug connection. "Integral" is to be understood as at least materially joined, for example by a welding process, an adhesive bonding process, an injection molding process, and / or any other process that appears reasonable to the person skilled in the art, and / or advantageously formed in one piece, for example by production from a casting and / or by production from a single blank, advantageously using a single or multi-component injection molding method. Such an embodiment can in particular increase the interchangeability and / or advantageously reduce the diversity of the components.

[0019] It is further proposed that each of the configuration modules comprises at least one fastening element for fastening the respective connector device to the receiving element, in particular in the first and / or second receptacle. The fastening element is in particular intended to connect the respective connector device to the receiving element. When assembled, the fastening element connects at least the respective connector device to the receiving element. At least one first element being "connected" to at least one further element should be understood to mean that the first element is advantageously connected to the further element via at least one frictional connection and / or at least one form-fitting connection, for example via a riveted and / or latched connection and / or tongue and groove connection and / or clamped connection and / or any further connection that appears reasonable to the person skilled in the art. The fastening element can possibly be configured as a clamping ring for fastening the respective connector device to the receiving element. The fastening element preferably comprises at least one latching means, advantageously a plurality of latching means, preferably exactly three latching means, for fastening the respective connector device to the receiving element. In this context, "latch means" should be understood to mean resilient means for creating a latch connection intended to be resiliently biased during assembly. Such an embodiment makes it possible in particular to achieve particularly advantageous structures, in particular with regard to fixing the connector device to the overhousing.

[0020] It is further proposed that the component modules each comprise at least one component and that the universal module comprises at least one housing element formed separately from the components, the components and the housing element being arranged one behind the other when assembled and in particular adjacent to each other when viewed from the plug-in direction. This makes it possible to achieve advantageous properties in particular with regard to assembly. The plug-in direction is in particular the axial direction of the connector device. The axial direction in particular corresponds to the main extension direction of the respective connector device, the latter running parallel to the longest edge of the smallest geometric cuboid that still completely surrounds the connector device.

[0021] It is further proposed that the component has a first receiving area for the housing element. When assembled, the housing element is in particular at least partially received in the first receiving area. In particular, when assembled, at least one sub-area of the housing element is at least partially received in the first receiving area. The first receiving area can in particular be configured as a recess and / or a depression, etc. The first receiving area is preferably formed as a circumferentially arranged sub-area of the component, which has a smaller diameter than the area of the component adjacent to the sub-area. Such an embodiment may in particular result in advantageous properties with regard to assembly.

[0022] It is further proposed that the housing element has at least one second receiving area, in particular two second receiving areas, for the component. When assembled, the component is in particular at least partially received in the second receiving area. In particular, when assembled, at least one sub-area of the component is at least partially received in the second receiving area. The second receiving area can in particular be configured as a recess and / or a depression, etc. Such an embodiment may in particular result in advantageous properties with regard to assembly.

[0023] It is further proposed that the component and the housing element are arranged such that, when assembled, they overlap in at least one sub-region, in particular in the receiving region.Preferably, the component and the housing element are arranged such that, when assembled, they overlap at least in the region of the first receiving region. This allows an advantageously stable fixing of the component to the housing element.

[0024] It is further proposed that, when assembled, the components of the first construction module at least partially surround the first universal module and the components of the second construction module at least partially surround the second universal module. In particular, the components of the first construction module form, in particular together with the housing element, an internal housing, in particular for the first universal module. In particular, the components of the second construction module form, in particular together with the housing element, an internal housing, in particular for the second universal module. This can, in particular, further improve the properties in terms of construction. In particular, it is conceivable to provide pre-assembled modules in this way.

[0025] It is further proposed to embody the configuration module in an exchangeable manner in order to change the gender of the connector. The configuration module is preferably embodied in such a way that it is exchangeable even when already assembled in order to change the gender of the connector, so that in particular the gender of the connector can be changed later in the assembled state. This may in particular further increase compatibility and / or flexibility.

[0026] It is further proposed that the first and second component modules have different longitudinal extents. The longitudinal extent of the first and second component modules may differ from each other, for example, possibly by at least 5%, advantageously at least 10%, preferably at least 15%, in particular with respect to the axial length of the connector device. In particular, the component module that defines the gender of the female connector when assembled has a longitudinal extent that is at least 5%, advantageously at least 10%, preferably at least 15% longer than the component module that defines the gender of the male connector when assembled.

[0027] It is further proposed that the first configuration module comprises at least one coupling element for receiving the optical contacts, in particular at least one of the optical contacts, which is assemblable at least perpendicular to the plug-in direction through an assembly opening of the configuration module. In particular, the component of the first configuration module comprises an assembly opening. The coupling element preferably surrounds the optical contacts of the second connector device in a common plug-in connection with the second connector device. The coupling element can in particular be configured as a coupling sleeve, which can be opened, for example, when viewed in the axial direction. The coupling element is in particular arranged in the assembled state in the configuration module. In particular, the coupling element is part of the configuration module intended to define the gender of the female connector of the connector device. This allows the compatibility and / or flexibility of the connector system to be further increased.

[0028] It is further proposed that the first configuration module comprises at least one cover element which closes the assembly opening when assembled. The cover element may possibly be latched together with the component of the first configuration module when assembled. In particular, the cover element may be press-fitted into the assembly opening for fixing with the component of the first configuration module. Furthermore, the cover element may possibly rest with respect to a coupling element in the configuration module, in particular in the component. This may improve the structure, in particular in terms of durability and / or stability.

[0029] It is further proposed that the cover element can be assembled at least perpendicularly to the plug-in direction, which in particular can greatly simplify assembly. The fastening of the cover element to the component in particular can be simplified.

[0030] It is further proposed that the cover element bounds the first component module outwardly in at least one sub-region. In particular, the cover element bounds the first component module outwardly in a coplanar manner, at least in a sub-region, with respect to an outer surface of the first component module. In particular, the cover element bounds the component outwardly in a coplanar manner, at least in a sub-region, with respect to an outer surface of the component. In this way, particularly advantageous properties in terms of stability can be achieved in particular. Furthermore, an advantageously compact form factor of the first component module, in particular of the first connector device, can be provided in particular.

[0031] Furthermore, it is proposed that the first construction module comprises a cover element, in particular a clamping ring for fastening to the constructional element, which may further increase stability.

[0032] The fixing element and the clamping ring of the first construction module can, for example, be constructed separately from one another. If the fixing element and the clamping ring of the first construction module are constructed integrally with one another, the construction can be further improved, particularly in terms of a compact form factor.

[0033] It is further proposed that the connector devices each comprise a plurality of independent strain relief units. The connector devices preferably each comprise at least three independent strain relief units for the optical cable. The connector devices, in particular the universal modules, can for example each comprise a C-spring intended in particular for clamping an optical fiber of the cable in an assembled, in particular pre-manufactured state with the cable. Alternatively or additionally, the connector devices, in particular the universal modules, can comprise at least one clamping block intended in particular for clamping at least one coated fiber of the cable in an assembled, in particular pre-manufactured state with the cable. Alternatively or additionally, the connector devices, in particular the universal modules, can comprise at least one crimping sleeve intended in particular for clamping at least one sheath of the cable in an assembled, in particular pre-manufactured state with the cable. Such an embodiment may result in improved properties, in particular with regard to stability.

[0034] Furthermore, a connector is proposed with a first connector device of the connector system, the connector comprising only one of the connector devices of the connector system, in particular the first connector device, whereby in particular a single connector device can be provided for each connector.

[0035] It is further proposed to include a second connector device in the connector, which in particular allows providing two connector devices in each connector.

[0036] A connector kit for assembling a connector device is also proposed, the connector kit having at least one universal module including optical contacts, the connector kit having at least one first configuration module and the connector kit having at least one second configuration module, the connector device being configurable female by the universal module combined with the first configuration module and being configurable male by the universal module combined with the second configuration module. The connector device can be configured as at least a part of a connector, in particular as a sub-module. The connector device can also in particular comprise the entire connector. The connector can be configured, for example, as an electrical connector. The connector is preferably configured as an optical connector. The connector can also be configured as a hybrid connector, possibly intended to generate both at least one electrical plug-in connection and at least one optical plug-in connection. The connector device can be configured, for example, as an electrical connector device. The connector device is preferably configured as an optical connector device. The connector device can also be configured as a hybrid connector device. In particular, the connector device can be part of a common connector, which can be configured, for example, but not limited thereto, as a robust connector. The connector devices can each be part of an individual connector, for example, plugged together. The assembled state corresponds in particular to a pre-manufactured, in particular operable, state, in particular in relation to the cable. The first universal module of the first connector device and the second universal module of the second connector device are of mutually identical configuration, the first universal module possibly differing from the second universal module, for example with respect to manufacturing tolerances. When assembled, the connector device includes a universal module, regardless of the gender of the connector defined by the first and second configuration modules. The universal module includes optical contacts, in particular configured as ferrules. The optical contacts may possibly alternatively or additionally be configured as lenses and / or as lens contacts. The universal module may include, for example, at least one component that holds the optical contacts when assembled."Intended" should be understood to mean specially designed and / or equipped. Where an item is intended for a particular function, this should be understood to mean that the item fulfills and / or performs this particular function in at least one application and / or operational state. In particular, the use of connector kits configured in this way may result in improved properties with regard to flexibility.

[0037] A method for assembling a connector device, in particular a connector system, is further proposed, in particular using a connector kit, having at least one universal module including optical contacts, having at least one first configuration module and having at least one second configuration module, the connector device alternatively being configured as female by the universal module in combination with the first configuration module or as male by the universal module in combination with the second configuration module.

[0038] Further advantages will become apparent from the following description of the drawings. The drawings illustrate exemplary embodiments of the present invention. The drawings, description, and claims contain a number of features in combination. Those skilled in the art will also conveniently consider features individually and combine them into further meaningful combinations. [Brief description of the drawings]
