Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a resin composition, and more particularly to a modified propylene-based resin composition. [Background technology]
[0002] Polyolefin materials such as polypropylene and polyethylene are widely used in various industrial fields because they are easily available and have excellent moldability. However, polyolefins do not have polar groups in their molecules, making them chemically inactive and extremely difficult to paint or adhere to. To address these problems, acid-modified polyolefin resins have been proposed as paint pretreatment agents, adhesives, and compatibilizers.
[0003] It has been well known and widely practiced to modify polyolefin resins by graft-modifying them with an unsaturated carboxylic acid such as maleic anhydride or a derivative thereof to introduce polar groups. As a method for graft reacting an unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative or an anhydride thereof onto a polyolefin, a method in which a graft reaction is carried out using a graft initiator such as an organic peroxide is known. However, in the conventional methods, the grafting efficiency of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative is low, so that a large amount of reaction residue is generated, which has a problem of deteriorating the physical properties of the graft modified product. Therefore, Patent Document 1 proposes a method in which rubber is added and a radical reaction is carried out in the presence of the rubber. Moreover, Patent Document 2 proposes graft modification in the presence of a solid rubber and an unsaturated aromatic monomer. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0004] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 55-50040 [Patent Document 2] Patent No. 2632980 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] However, although the method described in Patent Document 1 improves the graft amount (addition amount) of unsaturated carboxylic acid, it not only has problems with economy and profitability because the graft monomer and radical generator are added in portions and the reaction time is long, but also has problems with the presence of unreacted low molecular weight rubber, the fluidity (melt flow rate) increases significantly before and after graft modification, and physical properties such as decreased adhesion to olefin resins and poor compatibility are deteriorated. In addition, the method described in Patent Document 2 has problems with the graft amount of unsaturated carboxylic acid not reaching even 1.0 mass %, and poor compatibility with glass fibers. The object of the present invention is to provide a modified polyolefin resin composition which has a high content of unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, is less affected by reaction residues, can suppress an increase in fluidity after graft modification, and when used as a compatibilizer for fiber-reinforced plastics, provides molded articles with excellent mechanical properties such as bending strength and impact resistance. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] In order to achieve the above object, the present inventors conducted intensive research and discovered a modified polyolefin resin composition which contains a specific diene-based elastomer, has a high content of unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, is less affected by reaction residues, shows little change in fluidity after graft modification, and has excellent physical properties and compatibility, and have come to propose the present invention. That is, the present invention comprises the following:
[0007] A resin composition comprising a propylene-based polymer (A), a diene-based elastomer (B), and a copolymer of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride (C), wherein the content of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride (C) in the resin composition is 2.0 mass% or more, the melt mass-flow rate of the resin composition measured at 190°C / 2.16 kg as specified in JIS K 7210 is 2 g / 10 min or more and 500 g / 10 min or less, and the reaction residue derived from the unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride (C) in the resin composition is less than 2.0 mass%.
[0008] The resin composition preferably contains volatile hydrocarbon compounds in an amount of 0.5% by mass or less.
[0009] The diene elastomer (B) preferably has a number average molecular weight of 50,000 or more, and the content of the diene elastomer (B) is preferably 5 to 50 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the propylene polymer (A).
[0010] The resin composition according to any one of the above, further comprising glass fibers.
[0011] A compatibilizer comprising any one of the resin compositions described above.
[0012] A compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, comprising any one of the resin compositions described above.
[0013] A fiber-reinforced plastic containing the compatibilizer described above. Effect of the Invention
[0014] The resin composition of the present invention has a high content of unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride, and therefore has excellent compatibility with reinforcing fibers such as carbon fiber and glass fiber. For example, when used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, the mechanical properties such as impact resistance and bending strength of the molded product are improved. In addition, the resin composition has good processability and produces little odor due to the small amount of reaction residue and volatile hydrocarbon compounds. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0015] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail.
[0016] <Propylene-based polymer (A)> The propylene polymer (A) used in the present invention is not limited, but may be a homopolypropylene or a propylene-α-olefin copolymer. The propylene polymer (A) preferably contains 40 mol% or more of a propylene component, more preferably 50 mol% or more, further preferably 60 mol% or more, and particularly preferably 70 mol% or more. The higher the propylene content, the better the compatibility with polypropylene resins as a compatibilizer. Propylene-α-olefin copolymer is a copolymer of propylene with α-olefin. As the α-olefin, for example, one or more of ethylene, 1-butene, 1-heptene, 1-octene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, vinyl acetate, etc. can be used. Among these α-olefins, ethylene and 1-butene are preferably used, and 1-butene is more preferably used. The melting point of the propylene polymer (A) is preferably 70° C. or higher and 170° C. or lower, more preferably 120° C. or higher, and further preferably 140° C. or higher. The higher the melting point, the higher the crystallinity, and when kneaded with polypropylene as a compatibilizer, the mechanical strength of the molded product is improved. The melt mass flow rate of the propylene polymer (A) is preferably 1 g / 10 min or more and 100 g / 10 min or less, more preferably 50 g / 10 min or less, and even more preferably 20 g / 10 min or less. If the melt mass flow rate is 100 g / 10 min or more, granulation becomes difficult when producing the present resin composition.
[0017] <Diene-based elastomer (B)> The diene elastomer (B) used in the present invention is a polymer mainly composed of a diene compound, and has a double bond in the main chain. Examples of the diene elastomer (B) include acrylonitrile-butadiene elastomer, butadiene-isoprene copolymer, styrene-isoprene copolymer, butadiene-pentadiene copolymer, styrene-butadiene elastomer, styrene-butadiene copolymer, polychloroprene, polyisoprene, polybutadiene, etc., and preferably styrene-butadiene copolymer and polybutadiene can be used.
[0018] The diene elastomer (B) must have a number-average molecular weight of 50,000 or more. It is preferably 70,000 or more, more preferably 80,000 or more. By having a number-average molecular weight of 50,000 or more, the processability and mechanical properties such as impact resistance of the molded product when used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics are good. In addition, the upper limit of the number-average molecular weight is preferably 300,000 or less, more preferably 200,000 or less. By being below the above value, the dispersibility with the propylene copolymer (A) is good, the amount of unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride added to the resin composition is uniform, and the adhesion to the polyolefin resin is excellent. In addition, when a low molecular weight diene elastomer having a number-average molecular weight of less than 50,000 is used, it is not desirable because it may be inferior in terms of adhesion and compatibility with the olefin resin.
[0019] The content of the diene component in the diene elastomer (B) is preferably 30% by weight or more and 100% by weight or less, more preferably 35% by weight or more, and even more preferably 40 parts by weight or more. In particular, polybutadiene elastomers are most preferred from the viewpoint of increasing the amount of acid addition.
[0020] The melting point (Tm) of the diene elastomer (B) is preferably 50° C. or higher and 120° C. or lower, more preferably 60° C. or higher, and even more preferably 80° C. or higher. If the melting point is 120° C. or higher, incompatibility occurs due to poor melting during kneading in an extruder, which may result in a decrease in the physical properties of the modified polyolefin resin composition and a decrease in the amount of acid added.
[0021] These diene elastomers (B) may be used alone or in combination of two or more kinds.
[0022] <Unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C)> The unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C) used in the present invention is a compound having both a C=C unsaturated bond and a carboxylic acid group or its acid anhydride group in the molecule. The resin composition having a carboxylic acid group or its acid anhydride group can be made compatible with glass fibers, etc. Furthermore, the resin composition having an unsaturated bond can be copolymerized with the propylene polymer (A) and the diene elastomer (B). As described above, the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C) is not particularly limited as long as it has both an unsaturated bond and a carboxylic acid group or its anhydride group, and examples thereof include acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, nadic acid, crotonic acid, isocrotonic acid, norbornene dicarboxylic acid, maleic acid, itaconic acid, citraconic acid, and acid anhydrides thereof. Among these, maleic acid is preferred, acid anhydrides are more preferred, and maleic anhydride is even more preferred.
[0023] <Resin composition> The resin composition of the present invention contains a reaction product obtained by reacting a propylene-based polymer (A), a diene-based elastomer (B), and an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride (C), and is characterized in that the content of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride (C) in the resin composition is 2.0 mass% or more of the total resin composition, the melt mass-flow rate of the resin composition measured at 190°C / 2.16 kg as specified in JIS K 7210 is 2 g / 10 min or more and 500 g / 10 min or less, and the reaction residue derived from the unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride (C) in the resin composition is less than 2.0 mass% of the total resin composition.
[0024] The reaction product contains at least a propylene polymer (A), a diene elastomer (B), and a copolymer of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C), and may further contain a copolymer of the propylene polymer (A) and an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C), or a copolymer of the diene elastomer (B) and an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C). The resin composition of the present invention contains 98.0% by mass or more of the reaction product and less than 2.0% by mass of a reaction residue derived from the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C).
[0025] The resin composition of the present invention must contain 2.0% by mass or more of unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C). It is also preferably 4.0% by mass or more, more preferably 5.0% by mass or more. By having the content of unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C) above, compatibility with glass fiber and the like can be improved, and when used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, each physical property such as tensile modulus, flexural modulus and impact resistance can be improved. The content of unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C) is preferably 15.0% by mass or less, more preferably 10.0% by mass or less. When it is 15.0% by mass or less, compatibility with polyolefins and the like, particularly compatibility with polypropylene and the like, becomes good, and when used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, mechanical properties are improved.
[0026] The reaction residue derived from the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C) in the resin composition of the present invention is less than 2.0% by mass. It is preferably less than 1.5% by mass. If the content of the reaction residue is 2.0% by mass or more, when the resin composition is used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, the reaction residue reduces each mechanical property such as tensile modulus, flexural modulus, and impact resistance. By containing a diene elastomer, the reaction efficiency of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C) is improved, and it is possible to reduce the reaction residue.
[0027] The resin composition of the present invention has a melt mass flow rate of 2 g / 10 min or more and 500 g / 10 min or less at 190 ° C. / 2.16 kg as specified by JIS K 7210. It is preferably 300 g / 10 min or less, more preferably 280 g / 10 min or less. It is also preferably 50 g / 10 min or more, more preferably 80 g / 10 min or more, and even more preferably 105 g / 10 min or more. When the resin composition of the present invention is used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, for example, the adhesive strength of the matrix and glass interface is increased, and each mechanical property such as adhesive strength, bending strength, and impact resistance is increased. It is preferable to set the melt mass flow rate to the above value or less, since granulation is facilitated.
[0028] The resin composition of the present invention preferably has a volatile hydrocarbon compound content of 0.5% by mass or less. Also, it is preferably 0.3% by mass or less, more preferably 0.1% by mass or less. By having the volatile hydrocarbon compound content of the resin composition be 0.5% by mass or less, it is possible to suppress the deterioration of mechanical properties caused by the volatile hydrocarbon compound when used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, for example. If the volatile hydrocarbon compound content is 1.0% by mass or more, when used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, not only will the mechanical properties be deteriorated, but the heat resistance will also be reduced.
[0029] The resin composition of the present invention preferably contains 5 to 50% by mass of the diene elastomer (B) based on the total amount of the propylene polymer (A) and the diene elastomer (B). More preferably, it is 5 to 40% by mass, and even more preferably, it is 10 to 20% by mass. By making the content of the diene elastomer (B) component 5% by mass or more, when it is used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, for example, mechanical properties such as impact resistance are improved. When the content of the diene elastomer (B) component is 50% by mass or less, when it is used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics, for example, the compatibility with the matrix PP is good, and the mechanical properties are improved.
[0030] The resin composition of the present invention may further contain glass fibers in addition to the propylene-based polymer (A), the diene-based elastomer (B), and the copolymer of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (C). The resin composition of the present invention may be used as a compatibilizer, and the compatibilizer containing the resin composition of the present invention is preferably used as a compatibilizer for glass fiber reinforced plastics.
[0031] <Method of producing resin composition> The method for producing the resin composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, but examples thereof include a radical graft reaction (i.e., a reaction in which radical species are generated for a polymer that is to become the main chain, and an unsaturated carboxylic acid and an acid anhydride are graft polymerized using the radical species as a polymerization initiation point).
[0032] As the radical generator, organic peroxides and azonitriles can be used, but are not particularly limited, and organic peroxides are preferred. As the organic peroxides, but are not particularly limited, peroxides such as di-tert-butyl peroxyphthalate, tert-butyl hydroperoxide, dicumyl peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, tert-butyl peroxybenzoate, tert-butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexanoate, tert-butyl peroxypivalate, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, di-tert-butyl peroxide, lauroyl peroxide, and 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylpropyl)hexane can be mentioned. As the azonitriles, azobisisobutyronitrile, azobisisopropionitrile, etc. can be mentioned.
[0033] <Compatibilizer> The resin composition of the present invention can be used as a compatibilizer. The compatibilizer of the present invention can be used for matrix resins such as polyolefin resins such as polypropylene and polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, nylon, polycarbonate, epoxy resins, and phenolic resins. Among them, polyolefin resins can be preferably used, and polypropylene resins can be more preferably used. In addition, as the filler type, glass fiber, carbon fiber, fiber-reinforced plastics, talc, wood powder, etc. can be used, and among them, glass fiber and plastic fiber are preferred, and glass fiber is particularly preferred.
[0034] A glass fiber reinforced plastic containing the compatibilizer of the present invention preferably contains 40 to 95 mass% of matrix resin, 5 to 60 mass% of glass fiber, and 1 to 10 mass% of the compatibilizer of the present invention, based on the total amount of the matrix resin, glass fiber, and compatibilizer of the present invention. By being within the above ranges, the compatibility of the resin composition with the polyolefin resin and the glass fiber is well exhibited, and the kneadability of the resin composition, the polyolefin resin, and the glass fiber is excellent.
[0035] The glass fiber reinforced plastics containing the compatibilizer of the present invention are used in home appliances and automobile parts. EXAMPLES
