AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Conventional optical units with a movable body and a fixed body face challenges in reducing size while preventing issues such as the movable body coming off during drops, or components colliding and getting damaged.
Method used
The optical unit incorporates a movable body with an optical module that protrudes from an opening in the fixed body, and this protruding portion is equipped with a cushioning material facing the optical device's components. This design reduces impact and prevents enlargement of the optical unit.
Benefits of technology
This configuration effectively minimizes defects from impact during drops and allows for a smaller optical unit without increasing its size, thereby addressing the challenges of size reduction and impact protection.

Abstract
To provide a compact optical unit with which defect hardly occurs such as when an optical apparatus is dropped.SOLUTION: Provided is an optical unit 1 which is accommodated in an optical apparatus 100. The optical unit 1 comprises a movable body 14 that includes an optical module 12, and a stationary body 16 that supports the movable body 14 so as to be rotatable around a direction crossing an optical axis direction D1 of the optical module 12 as the axis of rotation. The stationary body 16 includes an opening 16b that opens to the optical axis direction D1, and the movable body 14 includes a protrusion part 12b in which the optical module 12 protrudes from the opening 16b toward the outside of the stationary body 16, with a buffer material 12c provided to the protrusion part 12b at a position facing a constituent member 101 of the optical apparatus 100 in the optical axis direction D1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
