AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Quicklime treatment for oil-contaminated soil may be insufficient for certain types and concentrations of oil, requiring excessive amounts and lacking effective prevention of oil diffusion.

Method used

A method involving mixing contaminated soil with a treating material composed of quicklime, cement-based solidification material, and a nonionic surfactant, in specific proportions, to prevent oil diffusion.

Benefits of technology

Effectively prevents oil diffusion from contaminated soil using a simple and cost-effective approach, reducing the amount of quicklime needed and enhancing soil strength.

Abstract

To provide a contaminated soil treatment method capable of easily preventing diffusion of oils from contaminated soil contaminated with oils.SOLUTION: A contaminated soil treatment method obtains improved soil by mixing contaminated soil containing oils, a treatment material comprising at least one or more kinds selected from quicklime, a cement-based solidifying material, and magnesium oxide, and a nonionic surfactant. A ratio of the treatment material is 90.0 to 99.9 mass%, and a ratio of the nonionic surfactant is 0.1 to 10.0 mass% in the total 100 mass% of the treatment material and the nonionic surfactant. The treatment material and the nonionic surfactant are mixed into the contaminated soil in an amount such that the total amount of the treatment material and the nonionic surfactant is 1.0 pt.mass or more and less than 5.5 pts.mass with respect to 100 pts.mass of the contaminated soil.SELECTED DRAWING: None
