Abstract

The glued-in rod wood structure includes a pilot hole for sealing any voids that may open to the pilot hole. In one embodiment, the pilot hole is filled with expanding foam, which at least partially fills and seals any voids that open to the pilot hole. The pilot hole may then be enlarged with a drill to a final diameter to accept the rod. Any voids in the enlarged hole remain sealed by the expanding foam.
