Abstract

To provide an ear cup, and a head wearable device comprising the ear cup, that provides improved active noise control (ANC) for attenuating both external environmental noise and internally originating noise.SOLUTION: Each ear cup 1100 comprises: a housing 1101 containing a motor-driven impeller 1109 for generating an airflow through a filter assembly 1112, the housing 1101 including an air outlet 1111 downstream of the filter assembly 1112 for emitting a filtered airflow from the housing 1101; an acoustic driver 1105 attached to the housing 1101; a reference internal noise microphone 1106 attached in the housing 1101; a reference ambient noise microphone 1108 attached to the housing 1102; and an ANC circuit which actuates the acoustic driver 1105 by simultaneously using signals supplied by the reference internal noise microphone 1106 and signals supplied by the reference ambient noise microphone 1108.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3a
