Driving Support Device and Driving Support Method

Abstract

The purpose of the present disclosure is to suitably assist in driving of a specific vehicle by accurately calculating information pertaining to an overtaking maneuver by the specific vehicle to overtake a preceding vehicle. This driving assistance device (101) comprises: a specific vehicle information acquisition unit (11) for acquiring specific vehicle information including information pertaining to the position, speed, and travel lane of a specific vehicle; a surrounding vehicle information acquisition unit (12) for acquiring surrounding vehicle information including information pertaining to the positions, speeds, and travel lanes of a plurality of surrounding vehicles; and an assistance control unit (13) for calculating information pertaining to an overtaking maneuver by the specific vehicle (P) to overtake a preceding vehicle on the basis of the specific vehicle information and the surrounding vehicle information for target vehicles included among the plurality of surrounding vehicles that are currently traveling or will soon travel in front of the specific vehicle (P), and causing an output device (24) mounted in the specific vehicle (P) to notify the driver of the specific vehicle (P) about the overtaking information, or causing an autonomous driving device (25) to perform autonomous driving of the specific vehicle (P) using the overtaking information.
