Abstract

To prevent foil from breaking when a bearing surface is subject to overload.SOLUTION: A foil bearing 10 includes: foil 12 having a bearing surface; and a cylindrical foil holder 11 having an inner peripheral surface 11a on which the foil 12 is fitted, where an outer peripheral surface 11b of the foil holder 11 is provided with an elastic member 14 having stiffness smaller than that of the foil holder 11 and the foil holder 11 is fitted on a casing 15 via only the elastic member 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
