To provide methods for producing PHA from seaweed as a raw material, and microorganisms that can synthesize PHA using seaweed as a raw material.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for producing PHA using seaweed as a raw material, which comprises a step (a) of culturing a microorganism having alginate-assimilability and polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA)-synthesizing ability in a culture medium containing seaweed.
