AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing wireless communication standards, such as 802.11, lack compatibility for channel sounding in future generations, leading to misunderstandings and resource waste due to outdated NDPA frames.

Method used

A generic NDPA frame design with specific bit configurations and fields (e.g., B11+16*k, B27+16*q, B27+32*k) ensures compatibility across multiple generations, preventing misunderstandings and reducing unnecessary calculations and power consumption.

Benefits of technology

The solution allows seamless channel sounding across future 802.11 standards, reducing misunderstandings and resource waste, and optimizing power consumption.

Abstract

The present application relates to the field of wireless communication, and is applied to a wireless local area network supporting 802.11-based standards, in particular to an NDPA frame transmission method and related device. The method includes a step of a beamformer (e.g., AP) generating and transmitting a generic NDPA frame, in which an NDPA variant field (i.e., B0 and B1 in a sounding dialogue token field) included in the generic NDPA frame is set to one of 00, 01, 10, and 11, and one AID11 or one disambiguation bit is included in every two octets following the sounding dialogue token field in the generic NDPA frame. If AID11 is in the station information field, AID11 is less than or equal to 2007, and if AID11 is in the extended common field, AID11 is greater than 2007. The disambiguation bit is forced to be set to 1. The embodiment of the present application can be applied to future 802.11 standards to support channel sounding, and can further prevent STAs of older versions from misunderstanding.
