Mutant Annexin A5 Polypeptides and Their Therapeutic Uses - Patent application

Abstract

The present inventors have generated new mutant annexin A5 polypeptides that dramatically reduce heme binding but remain at the same level with phosphatidylserine-bearing membranes in the presence of heme or during intravascular hemolysis. The mutant polypeptides may therefore be particularly suitable for therapeutic purposes, taking advantage of the enhanced response of PS or PS-bearing membranes, especially in pathological conditions where thrombotic, vaso-occlusive, and hemolytic conditions coexist.
