Abstract

To appropriately determine an abnormal state of a control valve.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device comprises: a continuously variable transmission having a primary oil chamber and a secondary oil chamber; an oil pump pumping hydraulic oil to the primary and secondary oil chambers; a control valve supplying the hydraulic oil to the primary oil chamber when the continuously variable transmission performs upshift; and a control system controlling the continuously variable transmission through the control valve. The control system determines whether or not the control valve is in an abnormal state on the basis of a cumulative friction value obtained by accumulating a friction value of the control valve. Every time when the upshift is performed in a stepped transmission mode in which a transmission gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission is controlled in stages, the control system estimates the friction value and updates the cumulative friction value by accumulating the same.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
