Abstract

A reinforced composite membrane with improved ionic conductivity and wettability is provided. One embodiment of the present invention is a reinforced composite membrane comprising a porous support and an ionomer layer containing an ion conductor filling the internal pores of the porous support, the porous support having a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the first surface being modified to contain a first hydrophilic functional group.
