Abstract

An embodiment of this application provides a secure transmission method and apparatus. The method includes: a first device encrypts a packet header of a packet to be transmitted according to a transport layer security protocol to obtain an encrypted packet header. The packet to be transmitted includes first data. The first data is encrypted by an application layer security protocol but not by a transport layer security protocol. The first device transmits the first encrypted packet to a second device. The first encrypted packet includes an encrypted packet header and the first data. According to this application, if the packet to be transmitted includes the first data encrypted by an application layer security protocol, when encrypting the packet to be transmitted according to the transport layer security protocol, the first device encrypts the packet header of the packet to be transmitted but does not encrypt the first data. Therefore, after receiving the encrypted packet, the second device does not need to decrypt the first data according to the transport layer security protocol. Thus, the processing load of the first device and the second device can be reduced, and the packet transmission efficiency can be improved.
