Pedestrian protection airbag system

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a structure that suppresses strong interference of an airbag cushion with a windshield and peripheral components and that can be deployed in time for a required time for deployment at the most forward striking point of a vehicle. In order to realize the structure, the present disclosure provides a pedestrian protection airbag device (1) including an airbag cushion 10 that inflates in the event of a vehicle collision, that deploys from a boundary part 106 between a hood 102 and a windshield 104 of a vehicle, and that protects a pedestrian or the like. This pedestrian protection airbag device (1) comprises: a temporary fastening part (14) that temporarily fastens a portion of the airbag cushion (10) in such a manner as to partition, at an initial stage of the inflation deployment process of the airbag cushion (10), a chamber (11) forming the interior space of the airbag cushion (10) into an anterior inflation portion (12) which deploys above the hood (102) and into a posterior inflation portion (13) which deploys in the vicinity of the lower end (104b) of the windshield (104); and an inflator (20) that ejects gas toward the anterior inflation part (12) so as to cause the anterior inflation part (12) to deploy earlier than the posterior inflation part (13).
