AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The IEEE 802.11be standard lacks sufficient rules and restrictions for non-access point multilink devices (NSTR STAs) to manage media access recovery, leading to unexpected failures in spatial reuse detection and channel utilization due to energy detection thresholds and synchronization delays.

Method used

Implementing a media access recovery method that includes starting a media synchronization delay timer, adjusting energy detection thresholds, and performing clear channel assessment to manage synchronization delays and channel access for non-access point multilink devices.

Benefits of technology

Enhances media access recovery by improving channel utilization and reducing unexpected failures in non-access point multilink devices, ensuring effective communication in wireless networks.

Abstract

A medium access recovery method executed by a wireless mobile station (STA) is provided. When the mobile station loses media synchronization due to a transmission of another mobile station attached to the same multilink device (MLD), the mobile station starts a media synchronization delay timer, e.g., a MediumSyncDelay timer, when the transmission of the other mobile station ends. The method improves medium access recovery by at least determining whether to allow backoff within a delay time kept by the delay timer, whether to allow overlapping basic service set (OBSS) packet detection (PD) spatial reuse (SR), or whether to reset the delay timer for a subsequent transmission event, or by adjusting an energy detection (ED) threshold.
