AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing shifting systems for two-wheeled vehicles require interruption of power output to perform gear shifts, which is inconvenient, especially when cycling uphill, and face challenges with shifting under load due to high clamping forces.

Method used

The shifting system utilizes a portion of the shifting means that rotates with the drive shaft, allowing movement between shift positions through forces derived from the drive motion, eliminating the need for significant forces or torques on the shift shaft by branching off drive power to effect the shift.

Benefits of technology

Enables gear changes without interrupting power output, facilitating smooth shifting even under load and reducing the force required for gear shifts, enhancing operational convenience and efficiency.

Abstract

To improve a shift system suitable for a motorcycle and a transmission unit that can be shifted by such a shift system. [Solution] The shift system includes shift shafts (19, 20) and shift means (15, 16), and the shift position of the shift means (15, 16) can be changed by moving the shift shafts (19, 20) relative to the shift means (15, 16). A drive shaft (18) is configured as part of the shift system (14), and in a first shift position, the drive shaft can be connected to a component of the transmission unit (1) so as not to rotate relative to the component of the transmission unit (1), and in a second shift position, the drive shaft can be disconnected from the component of the transmission unit (1). In the shift system, the shift means (15, 16) are configured to cooperate with the drive shaft (18) so that the shift means (15, 16) rotate around a central axis (10) together with the rotation of the drive shaft (18), thereby causing relative movement of the shift means (15, 16) to the shift shafts (19, 20).
