Abstract
To provide a method for producing a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel excellent in a balance between 0.2% proof stress and toughness upon applying aging treatment conditions with a high aging treatment temperature, and a product produced thereby.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel in which a heat treatment stock having a composition of a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel is subjected to solution treatment and aging treatment so as to be a heat-treated material. In the solution treatment, the heat treatment stock is heated at 1,020 to 1,080°C so as to be held, and then rapidly cooled. In the aging treatment, the heat treatment stock is heated at 570 to 630°C so as to be held and then subjected to a first cooling step of cooling the same at the average cooling rate of 50°C / h or less from 300 to 500°C and a second cooling step of cooling the same at the average cooling rate of air cooling or more subsequently to the first cooling step. Also provided is a product produced by this production method.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
