Abstract

This cell life / death determining method, cell life / death determining device and cell life / death determining system include: a step of acquiring images of a cell, captured at a plurality of focal point planes including a focal plane of the cell, from a direction on a side of the cell, which is illuminated by light, on the opposite side to the side that is illuminated by light; a step of acquiring an image piece including a central portion and an outer peripheral portion of the cell, from each image; a step of linking the image pieces in order of the focal point plane imaging direction to create a linked image for analysis; a step of extracting a feature quantity from the linked image for analysis; and a step of performing a life / death determination of the cell on the basis of the feature quantity of the linked image for analysis, and a predetermined feature quantity range.
