Provided is a document reading device comprising: a mounting table on which a document and an index board are placed; an imaging unit that captures an image of the mounting table and outputs an entire image of the mounting table; a recognition unit that recognizes, from the entire image, a document region of the document and the index board region of the index board placed on the mounting table; and a processing unit that executes a setting process related to reading a document region preset for the index board, on the basis of at least one of the shape, position, and orientation of the index board region recognized by the recognition unit.
