Abstract

To provide a light-emitting device, having a light-emitting element sealed in a liquid, which can enable a narrower light-distribution while increasing light extraction efficiency.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device 1 comprises: a light-emitting element 11 which is mounted on a substrate 10; a lens 12 which is placed on the substrate 10 so as to cover the light-emitting element 11; an annular protrusion 16 which is provided around the light-emitting element 11 on the substrate 10; and a sealing liquid 13 which is contained in a space inside the lens 12 so as to seal the light-emitting element 11. The shape of the sealing liquid 13 is kept, by surface tension, between the substrate 10 and a region 121, on an inner surface of the lens 12, above the light-emitting element 11 in such a manner that the sealing liquid is surrounded by an air layer 15 inside the space. The shape of a portion of the sealing liquid 13 making contact with the substrate 10 is kept by the protrusion 16. The sealing liquid 13 laterally extends from the lower side to the upper side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
