Abstract

The present invention provides a lost article recovery method which enables a finder who has found a lost portable telephone to readily deliver the portable telephone to an owner thereof.　This lost article recovery method is characterized by comprising: a step for registering terminal identification information to a management server; a step for storing the terminal identification information in a terminal identification information storage unit of the portable terminal; a step for, after an owner of a portable terminal has lost the same, registering lost-article information to the server; a step for transmitting the lost-article information from the management server to the portable terminal; a step for, upon reception of the lost-article information by the portable terminal from the management server, causing a control unit of the portable terminal to disable the operation of the portable terminal; a step in which a finder obtains the portable terminal; a step for transmitting, to the management server, the terminal identification information read by a reader device; and a step for settling, by a reward settlement unit, reward set by the owner.
