Abstract

The disclosed invention relates to a rectangular secondary battery, and in one example, includes a case at least one side of which forms an open surface, an electrode assembly housed inside the case via the open surface of the case, and a cap plate which is coupled to the open surface of the case to seal it and has positive and negative electrode terminals, wherein a swelling tape which stretches or expands upon contact with an electrolyte filled in the case is attached to a surface of the electrode assembly, and a first concave beading processing portion is formed on at least two opposing surfaces along the front, rear, left and right edges of the case.
