Abstract

A novel organic fertilizer for suppressing the contamination or accumulation of the heavy metal cadmium in rice, its production method, and application method, which fall within the technical field of fertilizer, is described. The fertilizer comprises adding 0.05 to 5 kg of iron salt (calculated based on iron content) to 100 kg of organic matter with a moisture content of 15%, and adding manganese salt, zinc salt, and copper salt so that the mass ratio of iron salt (calculated based on iron content):manganese salt (calculated based on manganese content):zinc salt (calculated based on zinc content):copper salt (calculated based on copper content) is 1:0.2-8:0.08-2:0.001-0.5. The organic fertilizer of the present invention was developed based on the chemical process of the heavy metal cadmium in paddy soil, the absorption process by rice plant roots, and the cadmium transport process in plants. It is easy to apply, requires low dosage, is inexpensive, and has low application costs. It is widely applicable to heavily, moderately, and lightly cadmium-contaminated farmland in China.
