AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing power converters require separate high-voltage generators for plasma actuators, leading to increased component count and reduced power efficiency due to rectangular waveforms and larger components, particularly transformers.

Method used

Incorporating a resonant circuit into the power conversion circuit to supply power for a plasma actuator in parallel, generating sinusoidal power without a separate high-voltage generator, using a dielectric layer with offset electrodes and a resonant coil and capacitor configuration.

🎯Benefits of technology

Improves power efficiency and induced flow generation by eliminating the need for a separate high-voltage generator, enabling continuous airflow for efficient cooling of switching elements and miniaturization of power converters.

Abstract

To provide a power converter which can improve power efficiency without the need to individually provide a high voltage generator used for a plasma generator.SOLUTION: A power converter of the present invention comprises a plasma actuator. The plasma actuator has a dielectric layer, an upper electrode exposed on a surface of the dielectric layer and a bottom electrode covered by the dielectric layer. The bottom electrode is provided as off-set from the upper electrode in the in-plane direction of the dielectric layer. A conversion circuit of the power converter includes a resonance circuit having a switching element and the plasma actuator is connected in parallel with a component generated by voltage resonance of the power inverter circuit and the switching element is cooled by a generated induced flow, thereby sinusoidal power is supplied without the need to individually provide a high voltage generator used for the plasma actuator and generation efficiency of the induced flow of the plasma actuator is improved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
