AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing protective helmets face difficulties in quickly and easily removing cheek pads during emergencies due to complex fastening mechanisms that can apply traction to the user's neck, especially when the user is injured.

Method used

A protective helmet design featuring elastically deformable connecting elements and a release device that allows cheek pads to be securely attached and easily detached using a simplified mechanism, enabling removal in various directions without significant force, reducing the risk of neck strain.

🎯Benefits of technology

The helmet enables quick and easy removal of cheek pads in emergency situations, minimizing the risk of neck strain by allowing detachment with reduced force and directional flexibility, enhancing safety and usability.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a protective helmet comprising an outer shell, an impact absorbing liner disposed inside the outer shell, and a comfort liner disposed on an inner surface of the impact absorbing liner for contacting a user's head during use of the protective helmet. The comfort liner comprises at least one cheek pad coupled to the impact absorbing liner by at least one connecting element. The at least one connecting element is elastically deformable to move between a first configuration adapted to be mutually inserted or released into a corresponding recess in the impact absorbing liner, and a second configuration adapted to be clamped within the recess. The protective helmet comprises a release device connected to the at least one connecting element. The release device, when actuated, elastically deforms the at least one connecting element to move the at least one connecting element from its second configuration to its first configuration, thereby releasing the at least one cheek pad from the impact absorbing liner.
