AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Traditional communication devices face challenges in SON reporting due to the risk of SON report loss, particularly when transitioning between public and non-public networks, leading to suboptimal network performance by increasing the occurrence of radio link failures.

Method used

Communication devices are designed to store SON reports in different data structures or with network-specific identifiers, allowing simultaneous storage and retention of multiple reports across various networks, including public and non-public networks, and to send availability messages to the serving network when matching identifiers are present.

Benefits of technology

This approach mitigates SON report loss, ensuring that critical network performance data is preserved and made available to the appropriate network, thereby improving communication network optimization and performance.

Abstract

A method is disclosed that is performed by a communication device 12. The method includes storing a self-organizing network (SON) report 16 associated with a non-public network (NPN) at the communication device 12, storing the SON report 16 in association with an NPN identifier of the NPN with which the SON report 16 is associated. The communication device 12 also transmits a message to the serving network indicating that the SON report 16 is available at the communication device 12 if the serving network is an NPN identified by an NPN identifier that matches the NPN identifier associated with the SON report 16.
