Abstract

To provide a printer which contributes to acquisition of a read image whose printing quality can be properly inspected in comparison to the conventional technique.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a first roller pair which conveys a long medium in a conveyance direction and a return direction; a printing head which is provided on the upstream side in the conveyance direction of the first roller pair; a reading unit which is provided on the downstream side in the conveyance direction of the first roller pair; and a control unit. The control unit control the printing head, controls the first roller pair after printing a first identification code in a first printing region of the medium (S7), and conveys the medium in the conveyance direction until the first identification code printed in the first printing region is located on the downstream side in the conveyance direction of the reading unit (S10). The control unit controls the first roller pair and the reading unit after processing of S10, and reads the first identification code printed in the first printing region by the reading unit while conveying the medium in the return direction (S13). The control unit inspects the first identification code printed in the first printing region on the basis of the reading result (S17).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
