AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing cylinder locks face a trade-off between operability and theft prevention, with small clearances inhibiting smooth rotation and large clearances allowing excessive displacement, leading to reduced anti-theft performance.

Method used

A cylinder lock design featuring a self-aligning mechanism that aligns the cylinder's axis with the cylinder outer's axis, ensuring stable tumbler engagement even with large clearances, allowing smooth rotation with legitimate keys and restricting unauthorized rotation.

Benefits of technology

The design achieves both functional operability and enhanced theft prevention by stabilizing tumbler engagement and absorbing unauthorized rotation forces, maintaining effective locking even with large clearances.

Abstract

To achieve both operability and anti-theft performance of a cylinder lock.SOLUTION: When a cylinder 2 is located at a lock position, a tumbler 3 is energized to a protruding position, and a lateral edge of the tumbler 3 and inside faces 12a, 12b of a lock groove 12 are engaged to restrict rotation of the cylinder 2. When a normal key is inserted in a key insertion hole 11, the tumbler 3 is displaced to a retreat position, allowing the cylinder 2 to rotate from a lock position θa toward an unlock position θb. A cylinder lock 100 includes an alignment mechanism 5 configured so as to match a shaft center A2 of the cylinder 2 and a shaft center A1 of a cylinder outer 1 when the cylinder 2 is located within an alignment range Rd1 between the lock position θa and a switching position θd between the lock position θa and the unlock position θb.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
