Abstract
To provide a protective device for a vehicle catalyst capable of appropriately detecting a fuel shortage state, and suppressing temperature rise of a catalyst.SOLUTION: A fuel shortage determination unit of an ECU determines whether fuel supplied to a fuel injector is in a fuel shortage state based on a fuel pressure detected by a fuel pressure sensor and an oxygen concentration detected by an O2 sensor (steps S3, S4, S5, S6, S7). A catalyst temperature control unit of the ECU executes temperature suppression control to suppress temperature rise of a catalyst when the fuel shortage determination unit determines that the fuel is in the fuel shortage state (steps S8, S10).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
